If you read up on airline history, you'll find that getting the pilots with the planes is a big priority for ALPA. After they didn't place braniff pilots at eastern when eastern bought out the Latin American routes, ALPA realized the mistake in their ways and made it a priority since.
Obviously RAH are teamsters, but I think the United ALPA wouldn't throw all those pilots under the bus.
Also, the situation you're responding to (however unlikely) has never happened before. A major has not bought out any regional and absorbed its equipment, so to say that the pilots will all be SOL in this proposed scenario is not accurate. No one knows how that would turn out.

You're talking about a rag-tag bunch of misfit regional pilots. No mainline Union gives a rats behind about any regional pilot. They would not only throw the RJ guys under a bus, but they'd back it up and run them over again for good measure. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. ALPAs concern is for mainline pilots which is exactly as it should be. It's harsh, but that's just life. Until one earns a spot on a mainline list, you have no right to expect any sort of special treatment. I hate all this damned entitlement attitude of my generation.
Your lack of self worth is a bit disturbing. Mainline pilot/ regional pilot= the same job. This is not an issue of entitlement, just the precedent that has been set through mergers and acquisitions in the past. Most of the airlines that were bought by or merged with majors in the past were MUCH smaller pilot groups than the regionals of today. The more members a mainline Union can bring into the fold, the better off they are.
Also, please quit your job as a pilot. Not just at RAH, but in general. If you think you and your coworkers are a ragtag group of hacks that don't deserve fair representation or compensation, get out now. This industry doesn't need another self loathing loser like yourself sh!ting all over everyone else's future.

I wouldn't advise looking towards your employer to find your self worth.

My sense of self worth is just fine. Thanks for the heartfelt concern. I actually have a life outside aviation so this job doesn't define me. Expecting to be handed a mainline job without undergoing the rigorous screening process just because you work for a subcontractor is an entitlement issue. News flash. Regionals and majors have wildly different hiring standards. How many majors are cold calling anyone with a pilot certificate and offering them a job if they just show up for class next week? Why would anyone advocate the same low standards at the mainline level?

Republic will split like a watermelon
United will buy from them around 50 170s and get 500 pilots along with it ( right thing to do )
Then staple them on the bottom of the SL (ALPA will have no issue) and start putting another 75 190s on that certificate and all new hires will go there along with other narrow bodies ( flying the UAL CBA)
A nice certificate no proving runs etc
Watch it happening

Hello, I am just curious if you anyone has any idea about the upgrade time at Republic
I'm currently at PSA but I'll be done getting my PIC here in a few months and have no intention of commuting to crap hole dayton just for the privilege of working for dirtbag PSA a day longer than I have to. I'm thinking I would rather get a new type and an easier commute.
