A lot of people do SGU and us CDC (Cedar City) as a back up.. Or you could do LAS to realy any of the bases. FO's in SLC have movment as most are upgrading..

upgrading into which bases? How long is it take for FO's to get to left seat now?
You can get SLC as an FO pretty quick. Right now the quickest upgrade are about 4 years, and into MSP or ORD. Upgrade in SLC is about 13 years.

Quote: I still haven't figured out why everyone holds on to this belief that PBS will give you what your seniority can hold. PBS will give you what it needs to for the flying to be covered by the company. We have no oversight and no say in how it processes these awards. So you can request what you would like and you may be lucky enough to get it sometimes, but the flying that is awarded to you rarely has anything to do with your seniority level.

In fact, I feel pretty confident in saying that despite the push and PIC requests for PBS transparency, the only way we will have any insight into PBS regarding awards will be to have a true contract. SGU will come up with all sorts of reasons or scare tactics to keep SAPA from publishing line awards. They don't want you to see the inconsistency and violations that happen each and every month.

Good god this type of thinking is such crap. The system works for nearly everyone. you are just a victim. Start solving your problems man. Fix your bids.

Interesting that I could take the first line and use it about your way of thinking. Not a victim here. Just someone who takes the time after the bids to see where the trips ended up that were "replaced/not awarded due to line constraints". Let me ask you some questions since you have this PBS thing figured out. What happens when PBS makes a mistake? Well if you are persistent enough and can get KH cell number after he doesn't return your messages, you can get them to look at the trip you were supposed to get. After he tries to blame it on you, with help from our SAPA PBS expert, they say it will be reported to AOS. Then either the trip in question will be assigned to you or you will be pay protected for the error.

How many times does this happen each month? What happens to the domino effect from that first trip that was assigned wrong? Don't get me wrong. The company loves people like you who just want to blame it on the end user. Again, I guarantee that if you published the bids, everyone would finally get a chance to see how screwed they are getting each month. Right now only a handful of people each month complain, they fix the issue and brush it under the carpet until next month. The reason most people don't complain is because they don't take the time to investigate, or they screwed something up in the past and just assume they made a mistake this time around.

And just for the record, I have figured out how to work the system. My point is that I should be able to bid the trips I want and get them if someone senior to me doesn't. I shouldn't get trips removed from my line and awarded to someone junior because PBS NEEDS to award me 89 hours when it gets to me. Those trips should be placed into Open Time for extra incentive pay or assigned to those that want to work the extra hours. Globalized PBS doesn't protect seniority, it protects the company.

Do you even work at SKW? Your statement evidences complete ignorance of how PBS works here. Unless you're bidding in the top 10%, there's no way to avoid the eternal, dreaded 'replaced/ not awarded' lines in the reason report. Disillusioned has it exactly right.
Are the pilots in training getting Surfaces now, to use in training?

I've been here a year and a half and have never been PN'ed or CN'ed. I admit PBS is not at all intuitive, but if you keep trying different things and read the manual very carefully you can start to get some of the things you want, but not all. I'm just under 40% in MSP with 16 days off this month, though that may partially be due to the recent increase in pairing quality here.

I think the next new hire class will be issued them in initial as well as all subsequent classes. They're being rolled out on the line over the next month or so, base by base.

Hey thanks for the info. I know all things are relative...what would you consider to be pretty quick?

After a non flying stint after the military I need to go to a regional and am trying to figure out the best option, basing/commuting being the biggest considerations for me.
