Will perhaps play into a Trans Atlantic scope violation. I figured AZ's disappearance might result in compliance just in time for management on 31 March 2014. AZ seems to keep saying, "I'm not dead yet."
AZ, if they aren't breaking even in this environment, seems pretty hopeless.
IMHO management took unfair advantage of the 3 year window. They have little right to complain about pilot costs and being "overstaffed" when they failed to staff and fly our rightful share of the EASK's.

It is interesting... I hope that the "investor" is DAL and not Etihad.
I DO NOT want to see any more MEA purchases in the European theater, they will turn it into their "feed" to compensate for Emirates signing a code-share deal with Easyjet to feed the Emirates MXP-JFK flight.
We don't want to allow that practice to expand, it WILL hurt DAL flying and WB pilot jobs... Keeping AZ afloat and DAL owning would be another strong piece to volley back against the MEA's and keep them in Skyteam.
The bad part is that DAL now owns a terribly operated and money-losing venture (although that is what VAtl was until DAL got a hold of them too). The big key is making sure that DAL pilot growth is protected and enhanced!
They operate:
12 330-200's with 3 on order.
10 777-200's
86 319/320/321's
We DO NOT want to see those aircraft being utilized against us in Europe to feed transatlantic Etihad/AZ WB's. I'm hoping RA pulled a fast one and had the board authorize a move to counteract Abu Dhabi.
Another nice little 117 nugget, for those of us who's duty carries from December into January.
As many have already said, no more 30 in 7 limit on block hours come January 1st, and nothing you flew *before* January 1 counts towards you FDP limits. So anyone who has a long stretch of days from December into January could techically be given assignments that take them over 30 in 7 *and* over 60 duty hours in 168. Good times!

What.......? Magically in a quarter or two DAL worked some financial magic on them and spun them 180?? Implying that this is:
A. A true fact, and:
B. Then imply the same can be done to a decades long, chronically mismanaged dysfunctional business is:
Fantasy. Plain and simple.
I can think of 11,600 more reasons for Delta to invest money in than that.

If we (DALPA) were stupid enough to give them the three year window, I wouldn't expect otherwise.

Scoop
ALPA expected Delta to grow into the new balance with AZ added. Management decided:
Financial turbulence in Europe
Air France's growth and near refusal to comply with capacity restraint
Aircraft mod line constraints while Air France was adding Widebodies
Was more important than maintaining good faith with it's employees.
Not making excuses for management. If they are in non compliance ALPA will hold them to account. I've waited three years for this window to close. It closes in 90 days.
