Quote: The real ? is if the company will allow them to set up info tables in the lounges. If they have 25% just from their internet campaign, what will be the final % if they are apprv'd for those tables.

If you are RA, do you let them?

On one hand do you anger ALPA whom you've been working with by allowing it and distrupting that relationship.

On the other hand, do you go for the business $$ decision and allow the apple cart to get turned over prior to c12.

Should be entertaining to watch at the least.
Funny that you say it would be entertaining. I'll bet if it gets any real traction it would scare you to death. "Entertaining" is smug while you have the upper hand... but let the worm turn, and I'll bet you change that tune...

T. I think you misunderstood again. I meant entertaining to see what Anderson does in regards his current choices.

Quote: DPA has roughly 25% of the cards they need. 25% more to go till a vote. FYI

Quote: 25% is over 3,000 pilots. Sounds to me like a little more than just a few "forum radicals."
I am a little confused by fly's statement. I believe that 50% of the pilots or 6000+/- cards are required for a vote.

Fly says that DPA has 25% of the needed cards which is only 1500 cards. But he also says that only need 25% more.

A little clarification would be nice. I could believe 1500 cards have been sent in but 3000 seems high for this point.

Quote: Where can I find verification of that number?

I was not aware that the NMB has a continuous record of the number of cards turned in on a drive and that we can find that number out.

It will be a great reference to have when enough USAirways East guys retire to watch how the West guys start a drive bring ALPA back on property there.

*Also, even if there are 25% of cards in, those were the "easy" ones. Every percent gets harder and harder to come by exponentially leading up to that magic 25.1%. Who knows.

I don't think it will be that long at USAIR. Many of the East guys want ALPA back now. Those who are facing or have faced medical or regulatory issues especially want the change. Their Captains make about the same as most Delta copilots on a W2 basis. Their copilots pay is beyond pitiful. They get zero respect from management who basically rarely bothers to talk to them. We will face the same situation at Delta.
Someone put a post out suggesting CAPA could become the new voice of the majors in DC. Interesting thought. How would this new voice be funded? Would CAPA become a union and collect dues. Would it be donations? CAPA at the moment can put out press releases but can't accomplish anything because they don't have what it takes. Years of putting cash in the right pockets in DC. Again what would the dues for DPA be to set the union up and get started without taking on debt. USAPA borrowed a lot of money and are facing real financial issues. They did that to keep the dues in line with ALPA. What is the DPA plan? Low dues and massive borrowing or high dues?

I have not met a US Airways' east pilot that wants ALPA back. Obviously, all the west pilots want ALPA back. ALPA has plenty of money, but can't get anything accomplished anyway. ALPA does not have what it takes. ALPA just agrees with everything the government does whether or not the members want it.

If you guys really want an example of what will happen if ALPA is voted out, just watch what happens to the NWA flight attendants. ALPA being gone will be nowhere near as bad as that as we will still have a union in the end. The world will not stop turning if ALPA is voted out.

Vpr,

I don't know anything about how many cards DPA has at this point. I was just basing my math on the 25% number that was thrown out there. Unfortunately, that's what I get for doing "math in public." You are correct... if DPA only needs 51% of Delta pilots to turn in cards to have an election, then 25% of 51% of our pilot group would be almost 1600 cards, not 3000. I was applying the 25% to our total pilot group. My bad.

Aren't you the one that lambasted all of us for personal insults? Yet you think nothing of continually insulting anyone who doesn't agree with your world view. Nice double standard.

Who cares the exact card count at this point? The bottom line is if they get enough cards there will be a vote and then we will see what the outcome is. I do find it amazing that there are so many pilots who have supposedly sent cards in with so little campaigning by DPA. If in fact the DPA has even 1500 cards I would say ALPA should take heed because there appears to be a lot of DAL pilots that are not happy with them and they may find over 12,000 pilots who dues dollars they will no longer be able to collect.
