I love how everyone gets to play laptop arbitrator.

I just find it sad that most pilots posting on this thread feel the need to justify their selfishness. Deep inside, they know it would be unfair to throw the furloughs under the bus, but they don't really care because it's all for selfish desires. I could respect someone who actually manned up and had the balls to admit it. It just sounds to me like most here are putting up extremely childish arguments as a cover-up.

In reality, that's how life is. Everyone looks out for themselves and you truly can't blame humans for feeling this way. You can, though, blame them for acting and handling the situation like little boys. It is extremely pathetic that adults can act the way some of you do and it is very discomforting to know we'll be sharing the same cockpit one day.

Mesaba furloughs are not going to get thrown under the bus, they will be integrated as their seniority # allows....Whats the big hang up with that??

I think the issue is what seniority number will be used to determine their seniority in the new list. Will it be their original XJ number, or will they be put to the bottom (ahead of the 7/1 new hires) of the new list.

Full disclosure, I am at XJ, and am not one of the furloughed pilots, but I do know some of them and hope that they can get a fair shake out of this. I trust the respective MECs will come up with a fair plan, but in the meantime it is frustrating to see some people on here so willing to put a furloughed pilot with more time in the industry then they have on the bottom of a list. Anyway, maybe this clarified things for you.

We are currently displacing pilots to Laguardia...so my guess is you would get typed on the Saab and it would save the company from having to give a jet FO another type...

I don't have a dog in this furlough fight, but couldn't it be seen the other way around too? That a furlough who wants greater/legit/what he is entitled to seniority also be accused of being selfish and only out for #1 at the expense of guys currently employed? No matter what side you are on you could be accused of being selfish by another group....and this goes not only for the furloughs but the SLI as a whole.

You know, with all the internet hero's posting how it should be.....none of it matters! You can sound like an immature, selfish a-hole, but it just doesn't matter.

Unless you are a member of your respective Merger Committee, you have ZERO ability to affect the outcome of the SLI. Sure, you can voice your opinion to the Merger Committee; however, they are in no way bound to listen to you or do what you want. So, since you can't control the outcome, don't worry about it. It will shake out however it shakes out....you then can choose to stay or leave. Also, your seat will be your seat after the SLI, we have no bump and flush abilities. The only way to move between seats/ certs is via a vacancy bid. So none of this really matters in the grand scheme of things.

And for the record, I fully support whatever is best for the ENTIRE ~3,000 pilots of our combined company...not what is good for me or my friends. At some point, a pilot group has to do what's right, not what's necessarily good for the individual in regards to SLI's.

Or a displacement. There are going to be a good number of them yet with Saab CA's and FO's getting displaced out of the traditional NWA bases. While there will hopefully be a good number of vacancies coming up, junior people in their respective seats still could get bumped out by those being displaced.

Cheers to that!

Sure, it may be seen that way as well.
