Quote: Sounds like an awful lot of assumptions to me. I'm not here to defend him, but I think his level of involvement in negotiations is slim to none. He hasn't been present at the negotiating table once. If you want someone to blame, I recommend the VP of flight ops and our chairman

I'm sorry to say, but you are 100% wrong about JP not being at the table. Read the updates. He's been on the mgmt side at least a couple of times. I'm not quite sure I understand the chairman comment..Care to expand upon that thought?

Quote: That's unbelievable. Why are people even applying there? They are filling classes? A 2 year training contract, no hotel in training and freakin 38/hr 1st year pay. What the hell is going on there that management thinks this is acceptable?
Hahaha, what is wrong with you people? You get to fly AN AIRBUS for crying out loud! Touch a button and the plane lands. Bus drivers do more than you and get paid less. Be thankful for what you got. If people knew how easy it really was, you'd make way less. What gives you the right to ask for more than that? You are worth what the labor market determines you are worth.

Quote: I am with ya, buddy! Screw these folks who think they must determine what I am comfortable working for. I am a Mesa pilot and I get a lot of **** from these people on here for that. Hopefully I can come fly the Airbus with you all. If we get contract raises, so be it. Until then, I will do my job to the best of my ability, including helping my airline be successful. Without the airline, we would not have jobs.
Maybe you two can be roomies!!! Sounds like the perfect match.

Perfectly spoken from someone who has never done it. Flying an Airbus isn't like some earth shattering experience that changes you forever. It's a damn airplane man. Just a little bigger with more cockpit space, but not really any faster or more airworthy than any CRJ, but to say all you do is press a button?? You sound like a neophyte. The rest of your comments are too asinine to even acknowledge.

Perhaps I am mistaken. I have read all the NC updates and I don't recall seeing him being there, but I could be wrong. That being said, I still don't think he has much if any actual sway in the process. And I don't think he does the job for fun. It's not a fun job. Not even close.

My comment on our Chairman was referring to Franke. He is the guy who doesn't give a rat about us getting our pay. I'd blame him way before JP

Gotcha, agree 100% about Franke. That dude could care less about any of the people caught in the wake of his greed machine. However, that's the name of the game in private equity.

I should have elaborated a little more on his involvement, I have no idea if he attends meetings or not but I have asked him about negotiations. His answer was basically that he has no dog in that fight and it happens when it happens. Sounds like a scripted management response to me. I understand being a CP is not an easy nor fun job, but I have had the opportunity to work for some good ones in the past. They know how to wear both hats, the pilot group side and management side when needed. Unfortunately ours is extremely one sided.
Additionally taking big bonuses is also a kick in the nads to the group. Again I understand its a perk that comes with the position, I get it.
However this one is for all the wrong reasons and done with the sweat off the brows of the pilot group here.

Fair enough.

Has anyone seen the proposed SWA contact?
Single SWA CA flying 140 pax makes more than entire A320 flight crew (CA+FO+4FAs). Somehow the economic conditions do not allow us to get a raise. The only positive I see for us is that it will help the negotiation process down the road.
