Quote: This discussion reminds me that they announced the unrolling of the test of the messaging system kind of a while ago now, and they've been quiet on it since. Anyone heard anything?
I'm a Beta tester. There are some issues outstanding. The developer and CS are actively working on resolving the problems. I'd say we're pretty much where a medium scale realtime IT system implementation should be at this point in its lifecycle. It won't be long.

Quote: Who cares. It's weather, they know it's coming, bring 4 extra schedulers in and pay them time and a half. 3 hours is stupid 3 hours with a reassignment and NO hotel is neglect. You'd be in an office if you delayed one flight 3 hours, never mind every leg.

If guys are in station, following the FOM exactly, they should be on their way home already if not already there. If this was msp or dtw every endeavor pilot would be at home before the roads closed and that'd be the LAST time scheduling would be allowed to fail. Its NY, 90% commuter, so everyone is stuck and hostage.

If the hotel issues are that bad you guys should grieve it. If enough pilots put in for it, and the union pushes it, the price of 6 or 10 extra guys on the phone or holding apis hand and this crap will stop and it'll be cheaper than paying every pilot 2-6 hours for their j-off session with scheduling.
^^^^^^this. It also wouldn’t be that hard to have a dedicated scheduler for each base during an IROP so that a pilot with an MSP question doesn’t have to wait 5 hours to get an answer for an OT pickup when NYC is crapping itself for the 12th time of the month.

Not trying to be snarky....but why tell somebody to go to a hotel when the reservation isn't even made yet? There were eight rooms in this hotel left in a market with dozens of flights cancelliing. The crew had 11 hours left until report for the flight the following morning. Seems like you may want to be sure of what you're telling them to do before you have to start wrecking the next days schedule before the ink is wet on it. Thankfully they held the rooms for us knowing I was on hold waiting to get it fixed.

Indeed. It seems negligent to allow your operation to implode because you will not spend a trivial amount of money on extra schedulers when they are needed. This sort of carelessness should not continue for months and years, and when it does, it undermines the culture, the leadership, and everything the leadership says. You have to acknowledge your weakness and address it; thats exactly what we do with FOQA, for example.

The biggest issue I see is that many things require multiple calls. 5 calls yesterday over 7 hours to get a hotel. And this was on a non-irop day.

So frustrating. I am the only one that gave no effs. Delayed deadhead, which caused a misconnect so I just booked it home and took my chances. To now, I still have no notifications or schedule modifications and that trip ended yesterday. All I care is that rainmaker is accurate and it is.

Agreed...nothing but a big arse damn failure. It’s pathetic that we continue down this path. How can you keep your employees on the phone for two damn hours? Managament /ALPA needs to address this yesteryear

Quote: thinking of switching from another airline

Seat lock ?
How long to get ATL 900 ?
Forced upgrades ?

anything else you think a guy should consider ?

thanks
thanks again for previous answers. its not an easy decision to give up earned seniority and start over at another airline. I don't think it will be all sunshine and roses at 9E but the following questions might give some more insight...

when does pay start at 9E ? door closed or wheel movement ?

do you need to carefully audit your paycheck every pay period ?

do you need to submit pay claims for overtime, holiday, etc etc ?

if you find an error in pay beyond XX days time are you forever screwed out of that pay ?

never used PBS how is it overall for bottom middle and top 1/3 ? is it like I've heard top 1/3 gets 18 days off a month and 90 credit and bottom 2/3 gets 11 days off and 80 hours credit ?

trips commutable? avg day credit ? ya'll have min day or trip/duty rigs ?

what mechanisms are in place if you want to trade out of a trip or just plain drop a trip? (we have schedule adjustment, seniority based and first come first serve...) how often are you able to actually trade (need green days I assume?)?

reading through the last few pages doesn't seem hotels/schedulers are much better

appreciate any feed back, like said its not an easy decision to give up earned seniority...

when does pay start at 9E ? door closed or wheel movement ? door closed and brake released

do you need to carefully audit your paycheck every pay period ?it is up to you. I check and find a mistake every other month or so in Rain maker, but if the mistakes make or break your finances, you need to fix your finances. The company is not trying to make mistakes, or short you pay.

do you need to submit pay claims for overtime, holiday, etc etc ? see above, I always check to make sure Premium Pay is coded correctly, and that is generally where the mistake is found

trips commutable? avg day credit ? ya'll have min day or trip/duty rigs ? we have a 4 hour min day, every day you work is 4 hours of pay minimum

what mechanisms are in place if you want to trade out of a trip or just plain drop a trip? (we have schedule adjustment, seniority based and first come first serve...) how often are you able to actually trade (need green days I assume?)? trades/drops/adds are first come first served, trades between pilots are allowed assuming it doesn't get some one in FAR117 trouble. Dropping is hard to do, but possible

when does pay start at 9E ? door closed or wheel movement ?Door close

do you need to carefully audit your paycheck every pay period ?I only check if I pick up flying to verify P15/P20

do you need to submit pay claims for overtime, holiday, etc etc ?What is a holiday? We don’t have those here. If pay is off, say they forget to credit you a P20 for a day trip, you can make a note in Rainmaker (pay software), save it, and they will address it. If that dosen’t fix it (always has for me), you can always call them.

if you find an error in pay beyond XX days time are you forever screwed out of that pay ?Have never caught an error more than a month after, so not sure. Never been screwed out of pay to my knowledge.

never used PBS how is it overall for bottom middle and top 1/3 ? is it like I've heard top 1/3 gets 18 days off a month and 90 credit and bottom 2/3 gets 11 days off and 80 hours credit ?You get what you bid for if your seniority can hold it. I bid for 3 5-day trips usually, and have been able to get them after about 6 months here. Top might get 18-20 days off, you you probably won’t get 90 hours doing that. There is a way to bid for over 85 hours, and if you get it, it gets paid at 150%

trips commutable? avg day credit ? ya'll have min day or trip/duty rigs ?No RIGs. 4 hour min day, 5 if you get a 5-day trip. Some trips are as low as 12 hours in 4 days. The goal seems to be right around 4 hours per day. DH & CXL are both at 150%.

what mechanisms are in place if you want to trade out of a trip or just plain drop a trip? (we have schedule adjustment, seniority based and first come first serve...) how often are you able to actually trade (need green days I assume?)?No SAP here. Dropping a trip can be hard, the way they run the reserve requirements. But putting it on the trade board and someone else picking it up is pretty easy to manage.
