Quote: Per our new contract are we allowed to be given a single day of reserve? I felt like it was no. I didn’t even bid it. But my June Flica schedule shows one.

Definitely no expert, but I know you can select “Allow single days off” and “Allow 6 days in a row of reserve”. Maybe there is also an option to allow a single work day?

You can have a single day of reserve if it's adjacent to another assignment, like a trip, training event, or meeting.

There’s an issue with PBS that sometimes will put a single reserve day. Per the contract, minimum is 3 days in a row. File a mis-award and they will move it.

Plane skids off runway at Blue Grass Airport, no injuries reported
Pretty senior crew too, relatively. Here's what's going to be looked at in the investigation. IN MY OPINION:

Definitely METAR and radar
landing numbers criteria
briefing (TEM)
CRM
and somewhere down the line, landing technique.

It's always important to remember when commenting on this stuff that it can happen to any one of us. No one is immune from mishap and error. That is all.

COMPLETE SPECULATION, One article says they slid off runway 22 between A2 and A1. Must’ve been a slippery landing and I’m glad that whoever was flying it was there to prevent it from being much worse.

I’m not a “any landing you can walk away from is a good one” guy, but when $#!t hits the fan in the blink of an eye, and you prevent a plane from turning into a smoking pile of metal, and nobody gets hurt...let’s be thankful for that. We’ve had enough death in this company.

Anyone know why we lost the Holiday inn Express in DSM? I liked that place. You could walk or get a ride to a bunch of food, and the hotel was new and clean. Could walk to an imax theatre or downtown.

What was wrong with this place?

$3 per night rate increase. Contract was up and the company/API refused to accept a rate increase to renew the contract.

Shoutout to all the people who put in positive comments for it... came up in the Chief Pilot Newsletter as one of the most complimented hotels, so at least we tried.

The comment in the union email was referencing the new hotel, which was apparently awful...in a worse part of downtown not near food and right next to a hospital.

The new new hotel (selected due to all the negative feedback with the new hotel) is in West Des Moines and looks good and also walking distance to new food options and I imagine the shuttle will Take you to the mall since it’s on the way to the airport.
