I’ll bite. We’re in a union that depends upon solidarity. We’re all trying to support our families. That sometimes requires temporary individual sacrifice for the greater good. The only reason you make the money you do or have the contract you have is because others sacrificed…no thanks to you apparently. Sadly there’s many more here that share your myopic point of view.

ahhh and that is the flaw. I guess the union can’t tell this pilot we are on strike. I mean if we go by that pilots logic I guess it would be fine to cross the line you know to provide for their family.

Not covering trips is the fastest way to stop everything. It would absolutely work and it would happen fast. You would have an operational meltdown that the media would cover. The media does not care about 3 engine taxi. While JetBlue might talk about fuel the one thing they can’t abide is bad publicity.

This isn’t hard. So yes when it comes to a labor dispute if you are still picking up trips you are the problem.

Take a tip from a fellow Spirit pilot, stop this insane talk on the forums about what should be picked up and not picked up, etc.

The Southern District of Florida in 2017 didn’t like discussions like this and don’t think for a second any meltdown by the company can’t be blamed on the union and sued in court.

Hey, I won't be picking up trips, but if it's a VDA, the trips pick me!

Just make sure your post is equally targeted at the pilots family who had children with unforeseen medical issues with a lifetime of medications and doctors visits. And even at our salary, still has to work his ass off to pay the bills. Make sure you tell them Joe said No to picking up trips!

That was an extreme example. My point is that no ones has the right to tell anyone how and when to pickup additional flying. You don't know anyones situation. Maybe in my case I had a few weeks of MIL leave that I wanted to make up credit for. You know an easy way to do it? VDA. Same pay for half the work. I would call that resourceful, you would call me the scum of the earth. The guys chest bumping on here are the same ones that will extend to make it home for their kids birthday - which I completely understand, even in a labor dispute. And I, as the Captain, would very much help a guy get home for that. Shame on me!

Dorked that up. Posting too early after a red eye.

We have 22 aircraft 'scheduled' in 2023.

In the past deliveries have always been flexible dates plus we have E190s retiring fast and THEN we invested (pulled the operation back) to provide stability of the operation.

So we are, you may not like to hear this, over staffed. 15% more pilots on property than same time in 2019 with less flying.

Recession is on the horizon and everyone is going to need a chair when the music stops. Of the pilots that I fly with 1/2 are leaving and 1/2 would rather be furloughed at DAL, UAL than here. Not saying that is sound thinking, but that is what they are saying.

$21,600 for a family which has a devastating illness or injury right about now.

In our largest base that is over $40k of income.

1/4 of a mid level FOs annual pay?
