Quote: I understand QOL may be poor for someone who is hired now and upgrades right away (prior 121), however I do live near LGA. What kind of life would that be on the 145? How many days off? What sort of flying? How much flying and how much sitting airport reserve? Just looking for educated guesses I suppose.

For a bit of background, I don’t mind hustling, even coming from the great qol I enjoy now right seat at another regional. I almost feel too comfortable there and I haven’t finished my degree. I almost feel like I’m lulling myself into being ok with working where I am. Mainline is the goal. I also have crushing flight school debt that I could greatly improve with the $45K bonus they’re offering some people. Yes I know it’s taxed. Still helps a lot. I see no chance of being able to afford a house or getting married any time soon with this debt burden which are two things I’d like to do soon.
Expect at least 12-18 months of airport standby (with sprinkles of some flying or home standby/RAP) unless the reserve rules change in a meaningful way in the future.

Pilots that have spent the last 12-18 months building up their 1000 hours 121 time with Envoy, will constantly trickle in above you on the reserve list in base as they finish uograde.

This is how things look as things stand right now, however reserve rules could change as well as pay etc. it’s anyones guess as to how things will pan out in the future with regards to potential contract changes.

Obviously there’s pros and cons to each regional, good luck with your decision.

**Note; with regard to the $45k CA bonus you mention, be sure to get a confirmation that you are illegible for it in writing before banking on it.

18? That's a big fall off.

Is this confirmed?

Heard a few weeks ago that there was going to be a slowdown. Not in interested candidates, but in an attempt to catch up.

The next class (Dec 18th) will start class for a couple days, get 3 weeks off, and then come back and then really start training. Hiring 100+ a month is not sustainable with the training department. Look at what happened at Piedmont. They are finally getting things in order, but huge gaps in training is bad for the company and the pilot.

The problem with the flow is that with continued loss of senior captains, check airmen, and instructors, it is hard to train the replacements while also training 100 new pilots a month. It will get worked out, but expect an unofficial slowdown for the holidays.

Breakdown of those 18? 145/175/700?

December is historically slow for class sizes by design. I wouldn't read too much into this.

Exactly. Just slowing down a little bit to catch up. But I did expect more than 18 - that number might be wrong.

There is plenty of interest in Envoy.

Go back and look at your last year December new hires. Over 50. This is very bad trend. Envoy only flows 217 in year 2017 and now with new endeavor contract, Envoy has less candidates. Go and ask your company why they did not honor flow agreement this year.
