Problem is the 175 doesn't have the high temp capability of the unlocked crj 700s. It's only phoenix's environmental conditons that pushes the envelope. Also the 700 grew in phx quite a lot.

Literally just saw Envoy park a 175 at the gate next to me a few weeks ago in PHX. Granted it's winter but they're flying in there currently.

I bid PHX overnights all the time. Go into LAS a lot as well. No issues.

You ready? The hottest day in Phoenix was June 26th, 1990. It was recorded at 122 degrees Fahrenheit.

APU max operation Temp: 52 degrees Celsius/125.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

175 has a few max temps, but mostly cold temperature limitations. None that would create an issue from an operational standpoint in Phoenix.

Unless you’re referring to some potential performance issues in hot weather? Single engine climb gradient issues? It does have a tendency to climb like a dog in the summer.

Company pages on the EFB give you max ops temperatures at airports like PHX. Good to go if you are below those temps.

Hey guys, looking for some advice:

I'm a cadet with 1100TT (1000hr ATP mins), previously a CFI single and now at a single pilot 135 VFR Op flying T207s, hopefully starting to build turbine PIC time in the Caravan in the next month or so. My interview with OO was the day after everything got cancelled, so no CJO. Wondering how I'm gonna stack up against the 2000hr CFIs and other non-121 guys when the time comes. Do I just wait it out building turbine PIC in the Caravan or try to find my way into a SIC turbine-multi gig? Would there be much benefit to paying for CTP while prices are low or is it just a waste of money?

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to find an SIC job on a jet. Jet time will make you more competitive in this coming job market.

It's the ISA+35 max t/o temp.because of the elevation there, isa is lower. 120 is not an issue at sea level, but at over 1000 ft it can be.

you ready? *eye roll*
ISA is 13 degrees at 1000'MSL based on the ambient temperature lapse rate of 2 degrees/1000 ft. Add + 35 = 48 C which is 118.4 F. Ops prohibited that day, and several others.

The “you ready” was in reference to the “fun fact” , but yeah take it personal. *eye roll*

So the hottest day in the history of Phoenix summers was 122 F, 30 years ago, and you’re trying to tell me we can’t have a 175 base because the max temp is 118.4 F?

I'm not saying it's an every day thing but it happened in june of 2017 and the company pays extra on the American birds for that exact reason. It's an operational factor that's all I'm saying
