agreed. It also doesn’t say we need to be through security. Some hubs have multiple terminals each with their own security - are you supposed to harness quantum mechanics or something to be available to all of them? SFO crew room to DL gates , not gonna happen in 20.

Obviously not all airports are like SFO. And The ready “pairing” is arguably different than a normal pairing since there is no plane to be at by D-35.

Oh I’m well aware of that. But what if I’m in the DL terminal for the UAL callout then I still have to go through a different TSA checkpoint, hence not through security but still “legal”. What’s the point of being through security in one terminal if it’s no faster or worse still even slower than waiting somewhere outside security equidistant that you can pounce on any terminal. Just use common sense. This is all splitting hairs anyway, the chance you only have 20 mins in next to zero.

If I’m in Chicago at high L gates and get an assignment to the high B or C gates there’s no way I’d make a 20min call out?

On ready, just use common sense. I personally wouldn't be at home even if I was 10min away from the airport, but if some people want to play that game, thats on them. You won't get 18 days of ready in a row. I've seen pilots get assigned it 2 days in a row max in my domicile. They just got unlucky with their seniority and bucket availability. You can also predict if you are going to get ready too, so its not a huge surprise when you get it.

Question about bidding for bases in training, do you figure out your assignment early in training or late? Asking because I’m planning a temporary move to base and that would be hard to coordinate with short notice. Also I can see what the junior bases are now, whatre the odds those bases stay junior for the next few months of classes? Obviously hard to tell but is it reasonable to assume places like Denver and Colorado Springs Will still be open for September classes? Thanks!

Yeah that means expect them to reach out about an interview very soon. At least that's what happened to me. It was next day.

When I started we found out our base right after Indoc. So plenty of time to get some things figured out. There was another bid award while I was still in training.
