With United you can list for the jump. With delta go to the gate. American & Alaska idk.
Be there 50 min early so you can grab a crew member and bring you down. If listed.
Ask questions. We like to help.
Feel free to note how things can differ on the line vs schoolhouse. But pls don’t correct us. We know.

DO work on your callouts RIGHT NOW.
Good luck.
AA requires you to make a MyTravelID “pilot commuting” listing and then check in with the gate agent. You have to request the 1W ticket to occupy the jumpseat.

Has anyone here done the cadet program? I was accepted and have a virtual orientation coming up this week. I've searched here, the forums, and the Skywest different sites regarding the program and while they may out the process there's nothing available about preparation once accepted.

I may be over thinking this and it really is just an orientation with no hidden "What's our CEOs favorite color?!" moments. Just curious if anyone else has been in the program recently?

There isn’t much to the cadet program. It’s really just there to fill the pipeline. You will benefit by being able to start 401k earlier and your cadet date will reflect for you travel privileges and bidding in your class for sim spots.

I did an in person orientation pre Covid. They just pour the kool aid and hope you enjoy it.

Really a non event.

I did the virtual orientation when it first came back. Just as PossibleDeviation said and you'll probably never even say anything unless you have a question. Another benefit is increased seniority in ground - you'll be ahead of any new hires who weren't cadets, and this could be the different between a midday sim in SLC vs a midnight sim in CVG.

My only advice is to turn on your web camera and dress as if you were there in person. The team that spoke to my group pointed out that they appreciated those who did.

Currently in the Pilot Pathway program with SkyWest. I'm probably 6 or 7 months away from ATP mins. Is that too early to submit my application? Better to wait until I am closer to having my time?

Thank you and ibleDeviation for the response. I'll be unable to dress for success though, which is actually been a concern of mine. Currently overseas on a "rotation" and honestly, my main goal will just be to find a building with a room I can hide in that will reduce the chances of co-workers busting in and screaming about genitalia.

Are you consistently building X hours per month? If so, not too early to apply. Class dates are 6-7 months out from what ive seen on here.

No worries. You can always leave your webcam off (or taped up)...or if you do turn your webcam on...when you introduce yourself, just let the folks running the orientation that day know that you are currently overseas on a work rotation and you did not travel with business attire. Yes, they want people to dress for success for the cadet orientation, but that is not super critical until your actual FO interview at which time a suit and tie is definitely appropriate.

Given your situation, I would just leave it off or taped up...it is no big deal for the cadet orientation.
