I believe that's correct, for the most part. Although "Approved United Personnel" would have priority over everyone except the FAA. Here's a visual from the 9E forum if it's easier. Link

In the absence of being able to designate designated crews which you know is not possible the only way to do it is exclusive vs non exclusive carriers.

It’s not a false narrative . I live it every time I commute. I have missed trips so a delta connection dedicated pilot could commute.
I thought you were stating in your last post that the issue was a person at SkyWest who never operates a United plane was bumping you? So to be clear, what you're saying now is that even though a pilot does United flying, it doesn't count, because they do other flying as well?

Maybe there was a misunderstanding because of the way I worded things, I didn't mean to suggest having SkyWest pilots fly only one airline in a multi-airline domicile. My solution was aimed directly at addressing what I believed to be your original complaint, that a SkyWest pilot who doesn't fly United could bump you on a UAX flight. Or similar scenario, but Delta.

Thanks for that. That’s kinda what I thought was happening.

The big unknown is the new “must ride” UAL personnel... so i show up for a OO flight. And a UA pilot that missed his first commutes calls and gets this new “must ride” and kicks me and a FAA guy off a OO jumpseat...

Has SkyWest decided they are kicking the FAA off the jumpseat too?

obviously they cannot kick a fed off but this is extremely concerning. no UAL employee should go ahead of any OO employee

One long time lurking aviator’s first and final thoughts:

Harming other pilots intentionally leaves deep scars

History reflects UAL pilots have verrry long memories. Following the SAPA lifers over the cliff could have significant consequences for those of you with long term career aspirations other than Skywest that include UA

You may find yourself interviewing in front of a Captain who remembers this silliness and may question your ability and willingness to have his back

If you do find your way to the line at mainline, that Captain you are flying with on probation may be one of those with a very long memory, especially since it’s highly likely he/she commutes

If you don’t think mothership is going to respond aggressively when pilots start exercising protection under their commuter policy and flights start cancelling, think again. Mothership is left holding the bag and pilots left behind are protected by contract. Mothership will be looking for payback. A lot of it.

One final thought:

The jumpseat is entirely the domain of the Captain. Along with that responsibility comes a code that includes a long standing understanding pilots do not get involved in politics.

If you deny me a jumpseat and I can’t get to work, I will say thank you for your consideration, I’ll go home, exercise my protections, enjoy the day off, and forward the flight information to the union and the company as required.

Must rides don’t sit in the jumpseat.

This is a new “jumpseat” catagory. I agree. Must ride should be cabin... but they want a “must ride jumpseat UA personnel”. Top of the list.

So what sort of protections does this “code” provide pilots that knowingly and willingly violate their company’s FOM?
