All second hand information. Where you there? Did you add the kids to the story to make it a little more dramatic?

First hand info... this has all happened to me since this started. I'm a non UA major pilot (former OO).
- Gate told me CA just spoke to her and they probably couldn't take a jumpseater due to FOM issues with UA. CA sorted it out after calls to ops and supervisor.
- Gate told me that I had to be in uniform to sit in the actual on OO so as not to be confused with airlines who are banned from the JS (resolved by getting a seat in the back but only because the RJ had my company paint on it and I had nonrev status).
- Told that ALPA pilots could not sit in JS (resolved that by removing my lanyard).
Just so yall know what's going on in your name, might want to make the walk or have the gate let YOU make the call on all JS requests. Seems like ANY OAL pilot is at risk of getting caught up in this.

No Captain on any airline has the right to deny any non-rev for any reason ther than what a revenue pax might be denied for (drunk, etc.). What if it were a NRPS to get crews in place for a trip? Dangerous waters to tread here.

I can assure you that UALPA listens to line pilots and the pilot hiring folks listen to UALPA. No threats here, just reality. This nonsense needs to end soon.

It’s not a matter of having a right. No captain has the authority to deny a seat in the back except for the reasons that you list. The captain can be a sinner or saint with the jumpseat, but unless safety is at risk, or an enumerated restriction (drunk, etc.), who rides in the back is simply out of the captain’s jurisdiction. You don’t get to play “we don’t want the Irish”.

Go “out of there way?” Here’s how it works; the said pilot checks in at the gate. The agent is required to issue a cockpit access card that allows that pilot to check in with the Captain. Then it’s the Captain’s call as to whether that pilot rides or not. Telling agents to deny jumpseat to any UA or exclusive UAX pilot is a gutless move; hiding behind the agent’s skirt without the spine to tell the guy to his face “No, you can’t ride.”

Putting your former line pilots in a tough spot by listing for a jumpseat with seats in the back.
Do you really think the captain told the gate no APLA or do you think that’s all they could regurgitate?
Thanks Rick
Kinda giving the hot heads ammunition. You had the ca there apparently did you ask if he said that?
