Hello gents,
Does anyone know if the full motion flight sim hours of the type rating course at Skywest can be used toward the ATP requirements (multi-engine hours) ? or do they want you to have those requirements before you start class ?
I know that from the present ATP-CPT course there are 6 full motion flight sim hour you can log, out of 25h of simulator towards the 50h requirement, just wondering if i could use more from the actual type rating course up to the max 25h motion sim.
Thanks in Advance

The new AD on the 700 is destroying their life expectancy. It cost more to do the inspection than the plane is worth.

Ok well first off I don't believe they can extend rap + 16 unless that was recently changed. And reserve is reserve man. If they put you up in a hotel in another base to be on reserve there they can do that. You are a back up pilot. Also I'm pretty sure the longest they can put you on ready is 4 hrs. It might have been 6? I remember guys in my crash pad working for transtates that had to do 12 hr ready reserve shifts. And they did it back to back days.
But yes I agree with you being on call is a huge hit on qol. Hence why I won't do corporate flying. But really there is no need to act like reserve at Skywest is THE WORST THING EVER. Cause it's not man.
There are definitely a few things they could change to make it better. Like call in senority order instead of jr to senior and give the senior guys the option of picking it up until everyone below him is used. That would be cool for if you are trying to break guarantee.
And proffering as you mentioned. Also set up required reserves based on something. That way the number doesn't change willy nilly. So that line holders can drop and trade more reliably.
How it is right now isn't horrible but yes it could be better for the pilots.

Some other airlines are more complicated about it... very happy to hear that.

I agree with you that the company should be able to have you sit reserve in other domiciles, but why would you not do something as simple as making a OBR yes/no like they do for call first? If you have to sit reserve and you are getting a hotel or at a crash pad, would you not volunteer to sit OBR? Again, one simple thing that would make QOL for reserves better, but nothing will ever happen with it. And in the reserve guide it specifically says that 8 hours is the limit for RR, but CS has been trying to assign more than 8 hours. Probably hoping that the FNG's won't know the rules and do it.

Being able to choose what trips you want to get on reserve based on seniority. For instance maybe one pilot on reserve is a commuter and wants 4 day trips, where another person on reserve lives in base and wants shorter trips. By our current rules crew support will just do what they want and probably assign the commuter a bunch of locals and standups. Proffering would allow people on reserve to try to bid for the trips that they want to fly instead of being at the mercy of crew support.
