Here's the thing, though. While you wait hoping that you'll eventually get an RJ class, you will have at least 20-30 pilots a month getting ahead of you in seniority, including all the people that decided they can deal with commuting to the Brasilia for a year. Seniority is everything, just ask the people who came here hoping for a 9 month upgrade in 2007, who still have 100 people ahead of them for even the junior RJ bases.

SkyWest is cagey about training plans, and has been known to release seat locks when necessary. I was the beneficiary of that at one time myself. They still have to address how we're going to staff the 175, since everyone that wanted ORD pretty much got it, FO-wise, and we have 34 more aircraft coming. Not saying it is going to happen, but what are you going to do if we start hiring into the 175 instead, which will not have an MSP base?

A question for those on the Bro side. For someone starting class on Monday and needing to prepare options for domiciles.

What is gonna be the best option? I will probably have to commute from El Paso to wherever I get, but I might be moving to the Ontario Ca area within a year.

I have family to stay with equal distance from LAX or PSP. I also have family near PDX. Being that I will be commuting for a time anyhow, what domicile is gonna be the best option to get a line and make commuting tolerable?

I understand things are fluid, just trying to get an idea on best options before I get to class on Monday.

PDX is senior.

LAX and PSP tend to be equal seniority and do mostly the same flying. It's much easier to park and access the terminal at PSP, and inland traffic between ONT and PSP is better and more predictable than heading west.

If commuting from El Paso, then LAX would be the one-leg commute. for PSP you'd have to go through PHX or LAS.

Bad move IMO. Use the guard to your advantage over the next year...i.e. MIL LEAVE as much as practical and make the EASY commute from MSP to LAX/SFO on the EMB. You'll likely be in a CRJ transition class with the next wave of "RJ Newhires" Seniority IS EVERYTHING.

commuting to a hub typically leaves you more options/airlines. so LAX, SFO on on the bro. Avoid a 2 leg commute if you can, it will take years off your life!

If you're going to come to work here, I'd suggest getting into the first class possible. Seniority is everything. You should hold a line rather quickly in LAX or SFO, and could commute to it for a year. You could wait that long for a RJ newhire class.

Take as much military leave as possible the first year.

--- Or get a job with an airline closer to home.

New E175 bases were announced. They will now be ORD, DEN and SFO.
