I decided to go the QC15/ Uflymike setup. Around 500 bucks if you buy all new. I used a QC2 while I was flight instructing and it worked pretty good. Just make sure to always have spare batteries. I figured in the 121 world I would be using the headphones itself for deadheading and commuting so that is what made me pick this setup over the aviation x.

I really wanted to get the Bose Aviation X model as the few times I have borrowed one they seemed great and sturdy. It was very comfortable and value wise if you can find an excellent refurbished one for 400-500 dollars thats a great deal.

As for the 1100 dollar A20, I just can't get myself to fork out that much money even on a payment plan. I've tried the A20's on and they were definitely impressive but too rich for my blood.

btw if you are in the sept 2 class. I'll see you there! Have they made your travel/hotel arrangements yet? I haven't got any confirmation yet. I'll email tomorrow.

The A20 was worth every penny hands down. Yes, it's expensive but it's a career investment and a tax write-off! The comfort and sound quality is second to none and the Bluetooth is pretty cool.

Does anybody have an gouge on when they think the next new hire CRJ class will be. I was hired last month have asked to be put in the pool for a CRJ class. I currently live near MSP and Married with kids as well as a guard pilot, just couldnt swing flying the Bro on the west coast for a year. Just looking for some opinions on the training pipeline, and not on my decision to pass up Bro classes.

There are a lot of transitions wanting to go from EMB FO to CRJ FO, and with new hires filling Bro seats behind them I would expect to wait a while, likely several months if even that soon.

Shouldn't be too bad of a commute to SFO or LAX. You could probably transition to the jet in Minnie after your year and maybe hold a line. You'd make more money first year on the Bro too. (According to the Skywest guys)

What about Compass?

You'll hold a line quicker, which generally equates to making more. I had a friend commute MSP-LAX during his first year and he said it was do-able. Never missed a trip or going home.

Straight from the horses mouth....in slc that is all new hire classes through the rest of the year will be on the bro. There's still a lot of people on the transition list (roughly 90 or so) expect them to fill all the RJ classes. When those run out then probably new hire rj classes. Of course this is the airlines and is all subject to change at moments notice.

That's what they all told me and I spent almost two years commuting ORD to FAT, LAX and SFO with 8 months of that being on reserve. I don't regret it, but no matter how things normally are that's not what you should expect. Always expect the worst with the airlines. When they stop running classes being off seat lock is irrelevant.

I did easily make more money first year on the bro than I would have on the jet though.

Commuting that far sucks. I like that I'm higher in seniority for having done it but I wouldn't blame someone with a family in MSP for waiting for the jet.
