Most of the older captains I've flown with say the aren't going anywhere. Even the more senior younger ones have told me that they're thinking about leaving but have no apps in yet and haven't decided. The FOs and junior captains are pretty much all trying to leave.

That's because at the time the bid closed only one domicile had been announced and no pay scale had been announced. Also people don't know what kind of trips there will be or whether they will be able to keep their Delta benefits or not.

The plane will go junior for a little while, but once there's a pay scale, more domiciles and people have more information it will probably go senior. I'm sure the brasilia pilots said the same thing when the CRJ first came around and now even the most junior CRJ bases are senior to the most senior brasilia ones.

If we're really replacing the whole fleet with 175s in the next 15 years then it's only a matter of time before west coast bases and Delta flying are announced.

Since few FOs bid the 175, what are the odds the plug newish-hire CRJ FOs get sent to 175 traing?

I think once they announce the specifics more people will bid it. FOs would have a lot to lose if they suddenly announce a 3 year seat lock right now and then they can't upgrade.

Rather than forcing junior people into it they would probably just run a new hire class. Once no Brasilia FOs want to transition to the CRJ anymore they will put new hires into it. I assume the same would happen for the E175.

I would expect new hires to go straight to the right seat of the 175 next year, unless...

I think I saw it mentioned on our internal message board that the FAA may not allow new hires to go through the program since it's new. I have no idea if that's true, but if it is that'd sure throw a wrench in the works. I'm skeptical, though, since brand new startup airlines start with new programs and new hires, right? Probably just a matter of paperwork and CMO interpretation.

They start offering CRJ classes when they no longer have transition pilots to fill an entire CRJ class right? Or in other words, when the Bro is staffed with pilots that are for the most part all on seat lock?

I would bet we see a CRJ new hire class by November, if not sooner

Yes. That will be soon too. This next transition class they're about to award should just about cover every bro FO who is left that has Any bid. There are quite a few people bidding transitions for West coast domiciles only.

How does that work? They wait to transition until they can get their desired base?

Yes. A lot of people do it that way. Someone living in SFO on the brasilia will be holding a solid line by a year. It's actually a paycut to sit reserve on the RJ commuting to MSP and paying for a crash pad on 2nd year pay. People who live in a brasilia base can just put in an RJ transition bid specific to that base so they won't ever get stuck commuting to reserve.
