You have a good chance. The latest new hire class predominantly went to DEN. If you don't get it right out of the gate, you should be able to get it in a few months. Welcome!

What chance of ORD straight out of training? Do all Skywest pilots get travel benefits on all mainline partners? Is ORD just a 200 & 700 base? I'm at XJT right now and am seriously scoping out my options as the writing appears to be on the wall here. What's the trip mix like? Plenty of alternatives to four days, or do you have to plan on being away constantly? Sorry for all the questions, it's a very stressful time right now, and I've been trying to make the right choice for my family and I for a long time. It seems crunch time is finally drawing near.

ORD would be easy to get out of training. ORD is just 200 and 700, we have no 900 for United on property.
Benefits on all mainline partners(except Alaska and American unless you support that operation directly)

ORD, is still junior. Guys are getting sprinkled all over the system but the last class was primarily Den and I think a couple went to Ord. Just like Den, Ord isn't hard to get once on line.
Ord is a 200/700 domicile. You get travel Bennies on Delta, United. Airways and Alaska are dependent on base.
Trip mix is good. You'll end up on the west coast in both 200/700 the 700 has naturally longer legs, the 200 you tend to hop around a little more. Flying all CRJ variants, makes a good mix of flying. Initially you'll be on reserve with either RE1 4am-4pm or Re2 9am-9pm and once you can hold Long Call Reserve, 12hr callout your QOL will improve.
It's a tough decision, do what you think is best and don't look back. Good Luck

Thanks for your quick reply! Do ORD crews only do UAL flying then, or do they switch to DAL, US etc and the 900 mid-trip?

For now they can switch. There were some delta trips in the January bid package that were on the 900. The company announced a few months ago that they want to make all of the domiciles partner specific. If that happens we would only get UAL flying out of ORD and no 900. You can always be reflowed into any of the three though.

Trips are only built to fly for one partner. Of course if you are on reserve that can change quickly, or if you get reflowed.

How about IAH? How easy it to get out of training? Also, is it just united trips? Or do they fly delta trips too?

A general rule of thumb is that the further west you go the more senior the bases get. MSP, ORD and IAH are all pretty junior bases that you could get right away or within a month or two. The ones in the middle like DEN and SLC are more senior but still possible within a few months (sometimes SLC takes no transfers for long periods of time though). West coast bases like SFO, FAT, PDX, SEA and PSP there's almost no chance at holding within a few months (on the RJ). LAX is kind of a tossup that used to be more senior but has taken some new hires recently.
