I start training on the crj this month, what headset would someone recommend bringing? I have a small cheap jet telex headset or a 13.4 big David Clark set. Is there a lot of wind noise in the crj? Thanks!

Telex! Leave the David clamps for another torture event. The wind noise is minimal. I use the Bose QC15 with a uflymic. I got the QC15 and sold my Bose X10 on eBay.

I was just about to ask the same question, except I only have David Clarks. Looking into getting the lightspeed zulu, just curious if ANR is going to be important and if it would be a good idea to just buy it now.

The Lightspeed is great for a turbo-prop, nothing better in my opinion, but it's overkill in the jet. I use the Telex 850 in the CRJ and love it.

I see the 175s are headed to ORD. Will this mean the CRJ base closes there? Are FOs allowed to bid over from the CRJ to 175 in order to stay in base? If I make the jump I want to be ORD based, but don't want to get displaced to another base if the 175 takes over.

So even though we fly the same equipment to some of the same bases as the other regional airlines we are blind spectators? Even though we have one of the higher end pay scales and some of the better work rules we are blind spectators? Even though in my class we had a number of mesa and pinnacle guys come to SkyWest who were talking about how much of an improvement it was, we are spectators? An ex-Mesa FO got paid more in his second year at SkyWest than he did at 4th year Mesa FO pay. We are actually a major part of the show. We are competing for the same contracts so how can you call us blind spectators? We are the ones not being asked to take pay cuts. If you want to keep racing to the bottom then maybe you're right. That is a show I'd rather be on the sidelines spectating. This place sure isn't perfect but it sure isn't as bad as PSA or Mesa or Pinnacle. I feel like this place, along with Compass or XJET, is an example of how good it could be for airlines like those. I hope some of the other airlines can look to our pay rates and say "we should work towards that." How does that not help the other pilot groups' cause to get better pay and work rules?
I'm not doing a good job explaining myself. What I'm saying is that you get what you get because the average is set by others. Since you don't have an NMB recognized bargaining agent, by definition, you are not a participant.

In light of what's going on around us, I'm impressed! As a former turbo prop pilot, I am very happy for those guys getting a decent pay rate! I'd say this is a no brainer, our bar actually got raised and we don't even have ALPO...go figure...or maybe were just riding coat tails?

Yes we better thank Nevets and his ALPA for their negotiation of our pay package

Thank you so much Nevets!!! This Kool-Aid is for you, shipped directly from SGU
This is not raising the bar for anyone. And you are not even getting what you were already promised.

No. Just because a new aircraft comes in doesn't mean CRJ's are being pushed out. The ORD will continue to be both CRJ and 175 base.
