The pilot group as a whole at SkyWest is fairly happy, Jerry and Chip aren't about to upset them by offering up concessions. SkyWest has many ways it can cut costs and save money... ie: mothball ExpressJet.
It also allows SkyWest and SAPA to re-enter negotiations prior to our potential Delta rate rest in Oct. 2015.

Because SKW pilots have so much say in what happens to the XJT pilots...

SkyWest is becoming a "get current and bail" mecca, the hiring standards have made this happen. The middle of the road guys being hired are competitive at the LCC's, the upper end guys are competitive at the Majors.

I know at least 5 from my class have bailed. JB, SWA and one is in the pool at UAL. I would say that 75% of the people in the class were actively interviewing or applying during sim/IOE. The upper end guys were shocked they were offered the SKW job because they pretty much needed currency and they were good to go.

If the concern is spending too much money training a CFI how to fly the CRJ, I'd guess they waste 10x this amount providing a paid currency course for the overqualified.

Just another example of a ignorant troll. Try to do something respectable and move along....

Good to hear about first year pay, sure way to help keep the current seniority list from sliding back down the list.

Just depends really. There are guys that have been here 7 months on reserve in LAX, and will probably be reserve for a few more months. To some that's not a long time but for others it is. I sat reserve for only two months in Fresno and have held a line since.

Junior line holders tend to get the left over shorter trips, locals and two days or lower credit four days. It really depends on our trip mix. A couple of months ago we had stand-ups and a lot of locals that made the natives restless so the trip mix changed towards more three and four day trips. The longer trips tend to go more senior to minimize commutes and drives to/from. Reserve is most definitely shorter on the Bro than the RJ.

There's plenty of gouge out there about the technical questions, both on the test and in the interview - know that stuff cold or don't even bother showing up. That is very true, I ageee with you 100%.. The SKW interview is NOT forgiving at all..

Even I fell victim to the mighty Frasca. Everything else went great but I made 1 stupid mistake, actually 2 really dumb mistakes in the sim & that was it.

I had big hopes on SKW & I am really very disappointed now.

So to all the aspiring people, do not take this interview lightly if you want to get hired here...
