Don't worry about the pants. It's just for the ID photo. Shoulders up.

They say for day2 you need a white shirt and black tie. I have that. Problem is now I am contemplating if they want black pants too. Nowhere in the packets or emails does it say black pants but I don't want to be caught off guard. I hardly ever ever wear black pants. I was going to bring khaki pants and wear a black sweater over the shirt+tie when not taking the picture.

I don't imagine that would be a problem would it?
The shirt and tie are for your official badge photo. You could be wearing swim trunks on the bottom half with no problem (okay, not really 'cause they want business casual, but you get the idea). You'll probably be wearing the shirt and tie for about 15 minutes, tops, and then you can change if you like. Welcome to the company!

beautiful! and thank you. Headed to SLC tomorrow! I'm very excited.

So I have all the limitations and speeds memorized (from the packet), but I'm still working on the emergency locations of things. is that something I need to have down before I show up as well?

Not on the bro, but I remember hearing the emergency equipment was not on the EP&L test (not until the second week). They do expect you to get 100%.

The emergency test is pretty easy, most people study the night before.

That part really isn't too difficult. Regarding the limitations test, assuming the format and answer sheets haven't recently changed, the single biggest reason people don't score 100% is that they forget to write in KIAS, LBS, etc. after they brain dump the numbers.

that's good to know. I find it much easier to memorize speeds, percentages, lbs of fuel, lbs of aircraft, checklists etc than I do the locations. I can recite anything except the location of things (outside the cockpit. inside I have it all down)

I'm nervous!

You'll be fine here's my suggestion to you and anyone else starting or planning to start at SKW. I took the EP&L test that is sent to you before class and had it laminated at Kinko's. Then I just used a dry erase marker to write in the answers on all the blanks until I was at 100%. Then I did it over and over again until it was perfect. That worked for me and maybe it'll help for others. The only downside is it's the lowest level of learning and you'll just know the answer for what it is.

My advice to you, for getting systems class PASSED (not just the EP&L) test: You must know the limitations and be able to correlate them to scenarios. It is very easy, with the packet you have been studying, to memorize them in order. You must be able to go through limitations in random order (shuffled flash cards work great), and then ask yourself something like [Example based on the Bro]: "Its -10C outside, can I feather the prop? Can I unfeather it? What is the maximum operating temperature that we can fly with in Las Vegas?"
