Skywest

Exactly.
My information is dated but the last I knew there was plenty of jet and TPIC time showing up for interviews (read being invited). Since they are only really starting to hire again since my info was "new" info, that means guys have just been waiting and building that TPIC in the interim. I am sure skyw has a bit further to go before they feel a pinch.

What's king at SkyWest? Internals. You have an internal from someone willing to contact CE and you'll have the interview by the end of the day.

"Only really starting to hire" even though we've hired around 800 in the last 2.5ish years? I agree we're not hurting like RAH or GL but the time will come and when it does we won't drop our standards.

They don't care about your background. They care about whether you seem like a fun person to fly with, and whether you're trainable IE. you prepared well for the interview.
You may want to consider that the reason you're not getting interviews or not getting past them may be due to attitude. You keep saying that Skywest has some problem with CFIs and you can't figure out why they won't give you an interview. You also said that you were treated with a lot of disrespect at the Republic interview before being denied the job. From the people I know at both airlines those things are both very far from the truth. In order to see that side of an interviewer you would have to rub them the wrong way somehow.

I don't consider those six months as being shut down. There was still hiring taking place but at a reduced amount and they were being placed into the pool. As far as no interviewing, that was only about the last 3 months of the period you’re talking about and again I don't consider it as being shut down. Especially since I was able to help a friend land an interview (for which he was hired) during that time. Shutdown in my book is what we experienced from mid 08 through late 2010 and during that time we were the only airline in America to retain our polies and after a quick update we put them right into class once classes began.
Understand that just because the SkyWest website shows them not hiring doesn't mean we're not hiring. In order to know this for a fact you must have someone on the inside who can find out for you.

Careful.... I'm trying to help but you and JohnnyG are going around and around with bad information while not paying attention to we who actually know. Don't listen to JohnnyG, what he's posting is incorrect.

Yes he is! He's also very knowledgeable about Skywest and is a very cool Captain to fly with. However, he doesn't have much patience for those with an attitude or are complete idiots. I would definitely consider him a good resource if you want to know anything about our Airline... So Mr. Match, how bout that TA? lol

I don't know who you heard that from but it's false. I interviewed with 10 people. Two of us were CFIs with just over 1,000 hours and zero turbine time. The other 8 had some form of turbine, corporate or 121 experience. The only two people in my interview class who were hired were me and the other CFI.
You got hired on at 1,000 hours. Forgive me if I'm a little burned out, but this has been an extremely long road to walk down to be a clean, certificated 2,000 hour pilot that's never failed a checkride and feel shut out of the industry due to a number of factors.
You also said that you were treated with a lot of disrespect at the Republic interview before being denied the job. From the people I know at both airlines those things are both very far from the truth. In order to see that side of an interviewer you would have to rub them the wrong way somehow.
I keep seeing people on here that claim they have a couple offers, and that the industry is hurting for pilots. My friends and I have had the opposite experience, and I know someone at most of the carriers. Our stories are so different I can't help but wonder if there are PR plants posing as young pilots here on the forums.

And by the way, no disrespect meant, and I don't want to get into an argument with you,
but not a SINGLE thing I've said is incorrect. I have firsthand information of EVERYTHING I post. None of it is hearsay or rumors, this all comes from me.

I've flown with plenty of people hired in the last 2 years that came straight from flight instructing.
