After seeing the way they do things at Republic, let let 11 people in the door and offer 1 a job, I don't think I can invest much money travelling around the country on my own dime for regional jobs I'm just not competitive for. I only have a fresh ATP and no 121 time.

That's my problem right now, is how picky they are being. I can do everything right, but with no 121, it only take him not doing anything wrong, and he's in.

When I interviewed I only had 1016 hours (mins were 1000) and was the only CFI in the room, all others were 121 pilots. Out of the 10 of us I was the only one hired. By lunch 7 of them were gone and from what I was told later it was obvious they never prepared and that they expected the job because of their experience. I studied my ass off and was fully prepared; the other 2 who weren’t hired were great guys but failed the ATP written. 6 months later both re-interviewed and were hired.
Again, when you’re at the interview and you see a former/current 121 pilot sitting across from you don’t worry, you’re not competing with him!!!!!

Regardless of your background, play the game. Study, get some sim practice if you think you need it, and don't be cocky.
This applies to any interview, anywhere...if the interviewer is pushing your buttons he's (probably) not being a tool, he just wants to see how you react. Calmly de-escalate while keeping your dignity. They don't want to hire pilots who will tend to get in fist fights with drunk pax.

Im not sure what they are looking for either, with over 2,000 hours and 500 hours of multi time. I have not been invited to interview. The other day, I got an email from airline apps saying i would not be considered to interview as well. I honestly am clueless as to why i got that email or what triggered it. Has anyone else ever got an email like that?

Is there an average time for Skywest to get back to you with an offer or decline? I interviewed over two weeks ago and haven't heard or received the final verdict yet.

I waited until two weeks after my interview and then called to ask. They told me on the phone that I got the job. For some reason Skywest seems notoriously bad at getting back to you after an interview. My roomate and I both had to call. If it's been two weeks I'd suggest that. It doesn't seem to offend anyone. They even asked my room mate whether he wanted the CRJ or Bro since they were on the phone with him while they were filling out his conditional offer.

Usually current 121 pilots who don't get hired didn't prepare well enough. Or of they sense some sort of attitude.

I can't get much in the way of interviews, and now I'm gun shy. The last year or so has been very, very bad for newcomers. I come well qualified and recommended, I have internal recs at just about every regional and major I can think of, no failures, no criminal past, a decent degree and a skillset forged in flying the mountains and coastlines of CA, OR and WA.
I don't expect much in this world, but I can hope for opportunity and a chance, because I deserve it and I've worked for it and will continue to work for it. The principal that I'm looked down on (at interviews) as someone less than deserving of professional courtesy because I don't have years of 121 or 135 experience is angering, to say the least.
It sounds like Skywest may be a bit more professional of an organization than Republic, but mileage varies. Everyone told me the Republic interview was decent, but then I shared my story and others came out of the woodwork to share their horror stories.

In my opinion Skywest really doesn't care to much about how much experience you have, or where you have done your flying. I don't think they really care if you can answer every tech question they throw at you...
I believe it comes down to what kind of person are you? Are you a humble person that they can stand sitting in a flight deck with? Are you going to represent Skywest the way they want you to? Are you willing to put aside your ego and learn what Skywest wants you to know?
I say this because I applied as soon as I broke 1500TT. Got a call within a few days to interview. I did slightly above average on the written test, failed the SIM miserably, and only did average on the tech part. I did however keep a positive attitude the entire time, told them I know exactly what I don't know, and asked if they wouldn't mind showing/telling me a correction for those things.
During the debrief they told me that they appreciated that I was open about the things I didn't know. They told me that they seen I was a positive person who would represent Skywest the way they wanted. I was told right then and there I had the job, though unofficaly until word came back from St. George which happened the very next day.
This was my experience. Maybe it will help...Or not...
