There are currently only about 30 bids that qualify however. It should also be noted that the July bids are not out yet, so there very well could be a transition class starting with the new hires.
All true and very good points.

Correct. 8 EMB-120's and 20 CRJ's (class size).

I had to sign a 1 year contract with my current 135 charter outfit. I sent an email back to Camielle saying I would not be available untill April 2014 and she wrote back that it would be no problem. Maybe an abreviated interview when the time came. This was the big question I had as I pulled my hair out all during the winter wondering which path I should take. No one here really knew how Skywest would react when the time came. Some said the bridge would be burned forever. Thankfully that does not look like the case at all. Very understanding people in the HR department.

Whoever said the bridge would be burned forever doesn't know what they are talking about, in situations like yours they are very understanding down in SGU

Stuff happens. I wouldn't expect any company to hold it against you if they told you it could be a 1+ year wait and you went somewhere else but still expressed interest in them. Whoever told you that would burn a bridge at SKW doesn't know what they're talking about.

As I predicted, a bid for a large transition class just came out.

Nobody will burn a bridge with SKW by being straightforward and honest.

But you might want to look at the options to bail early on the 135 contract...you could miss a lot of movement in a year. If you're logging turbine PIC (real, not sole-man) at the 135 op, then it might make sense to gut it out.

So once Skywest people have bid on any available transition class slots the remaining available slots (and seats being vacated by pilots transitioning) will go to new-hires? Maybe I'm just being a blond right now but how are there CRJ classes for new hires, wouldn't current transitioning Skywest pilots take all the slots when their seat locks come up? Are those slots just what happen go be available at that time?

And what does having "any" in their bid signify?

Sorry if these were answered previously. Outsider looking in.

As people pointed out further up there are only about 30 non-seat locked Brasilia FOs who have bid "any base" for a transition. If they need 35 pilots in ORD then the brasilia FOs who have bid specific bases and not "any" will be passed up and new hires will fill the classes.

There are very few current EMB FOs who have been here one year, have a bid for the RJ in a domicile that a new hire would get. If any one year plus FO is skipped in favor of a new hire they are eligible for CRJ pay. However, it was just announced that a rather large transition class will begin. I suspect no eligible FO will be skipped.

Ahhhhhhh, ok that makes sense now. Thanks guys! Was it common in the past for guys coming off their year EMB seat lock to get a west (DEN and west) CRJ base? I'm sure more guys have a specific base than an "any" bid.
