Anymore classes scheduled after the CRJ new hire class I read about a while back? Pilots haven't read about any further Bro or jet classes. I'm sure that info is floating around somewhere.

Any pointers for the sim? I also haven't touched a twin in about 2 years but have been flying Caravans and PC12's for the last year. Will they grill me on the twin systems or those aforementioned turbine airplanes?

Wow fellas, quite the conversation!

All I will say is, the handful of regional pilots I know say Skywest is the best regional of all and reading this thread, along with others, pretty much proves them correct. I just hope that when my time comes(900tt, 170amel, 110 turbine), that I'm able to earn the opportunity to further my career with my top 3 regionals; which Skywest is my first.

So any tips/help/advice/suggestions that could benefit me, I would gladly and highly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance guys/gals!!

The training department is saying they're going to run at least one new hire class per month right now. Most of the Brasilia pilots who want to transition have already had it awarded with very few more coming off seat lock anytime soon. My guess is that they're just going to start sticking new hires wherever they need them whether that be the CRJ or the Bro. They'll probably have both CRJ and Bro new hire classes month by month. A CRJ and a Bro new hire class both started yesterday.

From what I've heard from people interviewing they typically ask you about systems on the most complex plane you've flown regardless of whether it's single or multi. For my interview I prepared like crazy to answer systems questions about the Seminole and then they started asking me systems questions about the Archer because I had more time in it. I would make sure you have a general understanding of each airplane you've flown recently. They didn't ask me anything too hard but asking about the Archer threw me off my game a little bit.

No. There are barely any guesses as to when the first E175 transition class will be even. People are saying April or May for the first class. If it pays better than the current 200 rate (and it should) it will go senior and there won't be a new hire class for a long time.

I bet there will be new hires on the E175 after the initial classes and will go continue to go junior as it has so far on the FO side. Why would a senior FO go to the E175 when QOL is better at their current base (unless they live in base at ord/den/SFO).

I was in a recent class, and we had numerous CFIs that just crossed 1500 and had never flown anything bigger than a Seneca. Skywest definitely cares more about what type of person you are than what's in your logbook.

It'll be mostly Brasilia FOs bidding to it, after their 12 month seat lock is up.

I don't think we even start receiving the 175s until next May-June. They've got enough pilots already here that have bid for it, that the earliest new hires wouldn't get it until early summer. I'd imagine/hope that we hire a bunch of pilots into the EMB/RJ before that.

Might think about a sim prep course using a Frasca. There's a place in slc that specializes in Skyw interview prep. They give you the power settings and don't fail any engines on you, so if your up on your instrument skills should be okay without prep.
Most recent plane, I'd know your caravan/pc12 systems well...maybe know the engine type and a few specs on the last twin. Are you flying for Seaport?
