Except for the 40 that AAG has yet to award.

That's a grand total of 243 large RJs.

Compass will have almost 60 someday! Mesa doesnt even have plans to operate 100 yet. Republic barely operates 150 altogether.
The CRJs will be come obsolete, already becoming maintenance pigs. SKYW doesn't even own all the CRJ's... Delta can easily shift the ones they control to those with lower costs, especially since we are not meeting performance goals.

There is no use arguing with you, as you can't see past today. If you aren't the cheapest, you aren't going to get the flying. SkyWest can't attract pilots in droves with a 7 year upgrade, which is precisely why Mesa and Compass with their much lower costs and fast upgrades will continue to have no problem hiring or winning the contracts. Even if you add a few 175 in the future to replace the 200's, that does not represent growth, only fleet replacement, which does nothing to shorten the upgrade time or quality of life or pilots.

52 CRJ700 and 4 900 come off contract in the next 2 years (all at SKYW). There is absolutely NO guarantee that they will be extended. As of today yes, SkyWest is doing okay, but the rest of us are looking at the future.

You're also missing the big fact that UA/DL are maxed out on the amount of large 76 seat RJs they are allowed to contract out. So unless you are betting that their pilot unions will relax scope even further than its just not going to happen.

You need to lay off the SGU/Culture crack pipe dude.

Every large RJ there represents underpaid crewmembers, less jobs at mainline, fewer career opportunities, etc.

Make no mistake, I know SkyWest Inc. is nervous about the future. Skyrocketing costs, senior employees that drink the kool aid who won't get the f out, health care, lower paying regionals getting business, the list could go on forever.

Step outside of your bubble, take a look at the world, and stop being so naive. There is life outside of SGU.

Is it worth giving away all of your plans for 300-600 aircraft years in advance? Hell, when anyone mentions the MRJ they say that is soooo many years from now....who cares? So tell me, who has announced any new E-175 flying past the year 2015? The answer is absolutely no one.
SkyWest doesn't have plans for any of those aircraft... its all predicated on the fact that UA/DL will come calling for some larger RJs, which they can't because scope prevents it. So of course nobody has announced it, because they can't. But you can bet yourself when they do have the ability to add a few additional 76 seat aircraft they are going to go to the lowest bidder (lowest cost), and that my friend is where you should be concerned. SkyWest does not nor will it ever have the lowest costs. It can't just try to cruise along on its reputation alone. This airline is much different than it was even just 10 years ago... there is so much cheap feed now that SkyWest is almost an afterthought.

You don't need a Frasca 142 specifically. I just interviewed this past week, the Frasca sim eval is not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. That said, absolutely get some practice in a sim working on your scan. It just doesn't have to be in a 142 if you can't find one local. I did my prep in a Precision Flight Controls CR-12 set up as a Barron. I did about 6 hours flying the gouge approaches (LAX, BUR, VNY, KBIL). It was more than enough. The actual eval in the Frasca was easy by comparison. Make sure you practice your IFR scan, and have it down cold, especially while briefing an approach w/ no AP. The specific sim type isn't that important, just find one local that can be set up as a multi. Good Luck.

By the way, any word on how long its taking SKW to call people back after the interview?

I've been wondering the same thing. 2600 TT, 1000 turbine SIC, currently employed at another 121 carrier, nothing yet. I applied last week.

I don't really care either way, I was just relaying what management has been emphasizing. They aren't securing new contracts because of competition from cheaper competitors. If you don't think that's a problem, good luck, because all the people at the top think it is.

You applied? or you interviewed?

I was called the day after I submitted my app, but I had an internal connection walk in my resume, so YMMV. I am wondering how long it takes them to call back after the actual interview itself.
