No but I am smart enough to realize that overall, unions are just as unhelpful as not have gotten a union. They take your money, and generally protect the lazy, incompetent, and the entitled.

You negative nancies may scream the loudest, but I am willing to bet you are in the minority. I've yet to talk to one person (in real life) that has anything seriously negative to say. Just because not everything is perfect does not mean a union is a good idea.

Honestly you whiners should have seen my last job... Wanna talk about needing a union.

Welcome aboard, report back after your first Skrew Skeduling chit show. Lazy, incompetent, and the entitled, you just described an airline pilot. In 6 months you will be whining about the lack of upgrade. Minority, wait till you get to the line, if you do, ask a senior guy which direction things are going, then look in the mirror, you will se the true cause of your ailments. Make no mistake, you are a numerically identified widget, the only sympathy you will ever get from the "company" is for bereavement, they couldn't care less about your kids 1st birthday or your moms cancer(unless you are in Calif, then Kin Care will cover you by law). Wake up, you didn't win the lottery, you are being given the opportunity to be exploited, they need minions to push their smelly broken a$$, RJs around the continent. Ask any reserve with more than 6 months how's it going....dare you. Congrats on the ERJ choice, that seemingly innocent SJS moment on your part, guarantees you of a minimum of 2 years of reserve he11. Go ahead, click over to the standing bid list and watch your seniority on that list slowly march backwards. Bitter, nope after more than a decade with the company, it's an easy observation, you come here and profess to know how it is, but you have no idea, and by the time you figure what's up, you will have a little seniority and a knocked up SKYW F/A girlfriend, so say good bye to that fast trip to the majors! The above is an observed script, it just keeps happening over and over. Enjoy TDY!

You will not hear much on any company property, microphones and video cameras(to document sexual harassment and prevent theft)
The company(and DAL/UAL) will gladly take years of your life at a reduced pay rate, and you will only realize it after a long time, if ever that you have been had. You are in way over your head....

You could do a lot lot lot worse in the industry than that.

+1. When you're on reserve and your number comes up, they call…simple as that. I have encountered one scheduler who was less than professional, but tolerable. I have needed days off and if you catch SG as soon as the bids come out, but before it hits SkedPlus, will help you as much as she can. Hasn't failed yet.

Hack,
I am another guy who just watches the merry-go-round, go in never ending circles, it's the nature of the beast. Jason isn't the only one who thinks like this, because the same stuff happens over and over. If you gotta rely on the sympathy of one scheduler, that's proof that the system is truly broken. When the right company(3possible), calls I will be gone, probably call in for the remaining trips and take the wifey to Hawaii or some where cool. The majority of guys are just waiting for the phone to ring and you will get plenty of cancelled trips. While I won't say, "I don't care" my process is to come to work, do whatever I can do to make the machine work as well as it's going to and go home and kick back with some ice tea and ipad, poking the Kool aid drinkers who get some weird identification issue with a company that only cares when you come to work. Roy(CP) is one of the few exceptions who actually cares about you and I as individuals. For the most part my blood pressure while at SKYW is the lowest it has been in years, I just don't get excited about the job anymore, hundreds of IORs that go to a huge folder in the islands and become stale electrons proves that nothing changes except for the worse.
TFAYD
Thanks Chimp.

Oh come on. There's some gorgeous ones there. Maybe its grading on the curve I don't know. Kind of like in some engineering classes a 30% can be an A if everyone else get 15-20%.

There's something in the water in SLC though.
