Atkin began his airport career at US Airways, initially as a Senior Analyst, quantifying profitability measures, while also in charge of planning for the deployment of US Airways Boeing 757 and Embraer ERJ190 aircraft. Later as Manager, he worked closely with the scheduling department to implement recommended route changes and adjustments. He also managed the development and implementation of the "PHX Flex" project for delivering revenue and profit strategies for the company. Also, he implemented new pricing strategies while manager of domestic pricing.

They plan and want to shrink to become a quality operator again. Chip has stated it numerous times and now MT has said it a few times also. Bigger isn't better in this case. You will see a decrease in the number of pilots over the next 3-5 years and probably end up with a number closer to 1800 by 2018

Maybe all those orders will simply replace the 50 seaters ExpressJet and SkyWest have for no real net gain in flying. The two airlines have a combined 486 50-seat jets. To maintain the same capacity on larger CRJ's/ERJ's/MRJ's, you'd need about 320 76-seat aircraft. No surprise then that SkyWest has ~300 orders (plus a whole bunch of options).
Mgmt. wants relief to 81 seats for Delta +3% in pay but that will never make it past our NAC. Even if they offer us DL+15% it will never go to a vote. APA told DL & UA ALPA we'll walk over scope. In other words, scopes not up for negotiation, decrease it or risk a failed merger....... APA has also demanded all future E-jet orders to be flown by AA pilots plus a 3 year decrease in total regional jets from the current 618 to 450.

But that would require us caving on scope and that's not good for any of us. The only way anyone will get more 76 seaters is the same way PSA just got 47 CR7s.

SkyWest's game plan is, and has always been, to remain a reliable carrier. So when other partners are cancelling flights because of crew shortages (unable to staff) and Skywest is still flying, they are hoping their partners will take notice of that.

Not a troll. I see where things are headed by watching where things are headed. SkyWest has on many occasions recently come right out and said they want to shrink to be a smaller company. Not just on the Xjet side, but within the whole 'enterprise', as they put it. You might be new over there, so everything still feels fresh, but after a while you will see the frustration evident in the company because they haven't been able to win any new contracts in quite a while and the "quality reputation" they had when I was hired 10 years ago is gone. That's evident with all of these changes going on in top management.
There are many changes coming. Some good, some bad. The other regionals are biting hard and with the upgrade times being much shorter at many regionals now, SkyWest could have a very difficult retaining and attracting pilots, adding to it's woes.
Time will tell, but it's not going to be plain sailing no matter what announcements are coming.

Reputation with our major partners is just fine. That's why we are flying for five different carriers.

So your argument on expansion is based upon needing more room for Mx records? Maybe they need more room because they have four types (E120, E145, E175 & CRJ 2/7/9) and lots of records. Lol. Especially since they're co-locating Expressjets records with SkyWests. That's called "Synergies" which helps to reduce cost. Also, building a new Mx facility in Boise doesn't mean growth. It just means they needed a new facility and Boise fits because of its location, cost and number of RONs.
