I'm looking at joining the ranks in December, when I get to 1500. Do you think new hires now and in the short term future will enjoy the 2-3 yr upgrade you're seeing currently or will it go back up because of the sheer volume of FO's hired between 2013 and present as opposed to between 2009 and 2013?
Seems like skywest is a no brainer if these upgrade statistics are true .

I think it'll stay where it's at, maybe go slightly lower with how many 175s were getting but not lower than 2.5, bare in mind a lot can happen such as losing 200s or gaining even more flying so it's hard to say, you just hold on for the ride. That being said Skywest is pretty good at finding uses for old planes.
I'd recommend joining the bridge program, even if you aren't from one of the schools listed you can apply, it gives you a Date of hire much sooner than your actual date of hire which gives you better travel date, hjgher seniority in class which means better sim schedule and your travel benefits start day 1, added bonus there's no obligation, you don't sign anything so if you want to go somewhere else you aren't burning a bridge.

Given that most delieveries and growth are on the E175 side over the next year or two, should I bid that airframe if I want hours and oppertunity to earn extra (I know you guys are overstaffed on the 175 now) ?

Also, the majority of the complainers at OO want less hours, so then why would anyone want to waste negotiating capital to make only a few extra bucks a month, if any, since many want to work less than 87.

Sounds like you're the idiot. Why would I care about $30-$50 extra a month? I make $90+ per hour, and if I work 100 hours a month, that means 12 hours of overide, or $48. Not worth talking about.

Yes that's great that most pilots want less hours, but people are being forced to fly over 87 hours regularly. Shouldn't pilots be appropriately compensated for being over worked?

Also keep in mind that the FA's average about $25 per hour. Get disciplined if they forget a belt and are automatically fired after 8 rolling occurrences a year. I know one who was on the airplane before the rest of us even showed. She forgot to checkin on the computer. Simple mistake. Occurrence!
Are we really comparing our package with that of the FA's, who make squat? And the overtime they get is just a little bit better than squat?

People who want to work more can always wave the limitations in PBS or pick-up extra - most likely at a premium from OT.
People who want to work less can simply work less.
You can always work more by picking up but you cannot "buy back" free time. So you have to protect the free time and leave it up to the pilot on what to do with it.
But this is all theoretical anyway until there is some form of leverage.

Is it more common to share a room for training or pay extra for a single room? What would you recommend? Trying to decide if it's worth it to pay the $1500 for a single room.

Then again that's on the crj side of things; the ejet may have a different setup in their hotel. I wouldn't pay for your own room unless you were a married guy with kids and were planning on bringing the whole team, but that's a terrible idea.
Anyways, save your money so you can afford real rent or a crashpad after you pass training.

You don't actually "share a room", the hotel is set up so each suite has one room and a living area. One bed in the room (with a privacy door), and another in the living area. There's a small kitchenette with cupboards/fridge/washer/stove...etc. The first guy gets his pick and the second to show up takes the other. It's not nearly as bad as people make it out.
