As a new hire, how feasible is to get Houston out of training? If not, how long it may take to have Houston? How long will you be sitting on reserve in Houston? Thanks.
and one day you will be green and brown. You might as well ask if you will be rich and what day will that occur. This is probably the most volatile period in aviation, since the 60s. Any prediction has a 50/50 chance of being right or wrong.......or wildly off the mark. 2+3=Jello. |

Sorry if I struck a nerve. I usually try to keep emotion in check but it seriously is pretty frustrating to see nothing being fixed and even worse that SOME of our SAPA folks don't seem to see a problem.
I have actually applied for quite a few things like RSR and would love to be part of the solution. However, if you look at history it doesn't fair well for those that try to help. There was a certain person who was very vocal on our forums that tried to help from the inside by being a SAPA rep. Didn't seem to work out to well for him. Plus most that do work in SAPA get burned out and quit because they see how much the company really wants to fix things. Or they get the hell out ASAP because they know things will never get better. But sticking your head in the sand and ignoring the problems doesn't do any good either. How would you suggest I make effective change? I'll try to post more sunshine and rainbows so that I don't come across so negative. Like the good news about our bonuses!! I get to split 6% of the profit with 3,500 of our pilots. See all that extra flying we are picking up and forcing me to fly is paying off!! |

I'm currently typing this from my "Malibu" bungalow! LOL! By the way my first career ended when I was 24 and started flying (late bloomer). I guess I just couldn't see myself continuing my 6 day work weeks doing all manual labor with only a few hours each night at home.... Went to an ALPA carrier for 4 years that got destroyed and is almost unrecognizable from when I started there! I would have stayed except things were so bad it forced a lot of us to start over! There are many who are under some false or misguided perceptions that ALPA is going to have any power to "fix" things.... It doesn't! Our MEC did a lot of big talk but were usually just puppets for management! Oh and the beloved ALPA national prez Mr. Moak wrote a letter exclusively for our pilot group saying how the concessionary contract was the best we were going to get for our "sector" ( FFD carrier) and we should just take the deal! I did get a magazine subscription though! Ask those guys over at eagle how much their "contract" is valued by management! G ahead and start a union drive again! I won't be voting for it, at least not ALPA! I could get behind something in house but My experience with ALPA has not been a good one!
Just don't be surprised when you still can't seem to get things done, even with the "real representation".... Hey I've still got the old lanyard, if you like I can send it your way so you can represent during the drive! ALPA, or any union, is only as good as its pilots and who they elect as their leadership. Not all ALPA properties are bad. So just because you had one bad experience doesn't mean that everyone at all ALPA properties have bad experiences. |
whats the min credit i can drop down too while staying full time and whats the min user time per day i can use to make sure the min time is achieved?

Unless of course you're on the 175 in ORD, but even that won't last forever! |

I agree that there are certainly a fair amount of legit gripes here. But if you think THAT person was canned because he was trying to help, you are pretty clueless.
Once he was in SAPA, he tried to get something in policy so that we couldn't just change the bylaws when it was convenient. Not sure what happened to that since we never get any notes from SAPA meetings. He was also able to get the notes from the previous six months of meetings updated on the site since there was nothing on there from 2015. Last election we had a pretty good FO running that seemed excited to get in and make some changes. Instead we voted in the same old SAPA reps. We also have a pretty smart guy from what I can see that would be able to provide some data driven info about our pairings. But he didn't get selected as our pairing liason even though it is pretty apparent that he has some great ideas. I have tried to get involved as I mentioned before. But I would rather spend my free time on actions that will help me move on. And that is sad because we have great people here, but looking at last month it seems that even the super senior are getting the message that they are not valued or wanted here anymore. |
sorry to clarify im talking about this month. was awarded 79 hrs (displaced twice already heh ) anyways want to drop a 19 hr trip which would take me down to 60 hrs which is above the min if im correct which is 56 hrs or something to maintain full time status. just wanted to clarify on this.
