So what are you doing to 'stand up for yourself'? Union drive ? Filing CSCs? Running for SAPA rep?
Or are you just blathering on a forum? Union drive? Anyone who saw the benefits or could get one started is moving on. Too much attrition and too many new hires to get one started. Which is exactly why the company is pushing the envelop of what they can get away with. That and a SAPA EB that is in their pockets. Filing CSC's? Worthless. Even if the company is found in the wrong, they won't fix it. Then they just close it and say it was in favor of the pilot. Been there and done that. Run for SAPA rep? Too much company control. We have seen what happens when someone becomes a SAPA rep and tries to rock the boat. Even those you feel will get in and shake things up, just end up getting in line and becoming a "yes" man. Or they get so fed up with the BS they quit. Unfortunately, we are limited and the company knows it. We can only try to let people know the stuff that goes on behind the curtain and let them make an informed decision. We have lost way more than 2% by the company changing things over the years or SAPA re-writing the PPM to match what the company is doing. What did we get in return for the credit vs block? Ready reserve? PBS? |
The koolaid is really good over here. I don't drink a lot of it but some,of the guys I fly with gulp it down and think things are good. Not been able to get an interview to save themselves, they call themselves lifers and think they are being compensated well for being away from home for 18 or 19 days a month. Many have lost their personal lives to apathy and still think they are in a good spot. Better for me. Less guys to compete with to move on. Now that the majors are on their 3rd pass through looking for people, maybe some of these guys might start moving on.

Stand up for yourself? Kind of impossible without a contract. Get an email from your CP for calling in 7 times (or 3 incidents) over the course of 18 months. How can you stand up for yourself? We need unity across 4000 pilots, not trying to take battles on by ourselves.

Skywest won't change until they can't recruit pilots, and there are still enough 1500 hour wonderboys that recruiting isn't an issue. |

Trust me, I'm well aware that all four of those actions are pointless. But they're slightly less pointless than just rambling on a forum. It's just annoying when people spout stuff like 'stand up for yourself' when all they're doing is being a keyboard warrior. I respect the guys who led the union drive, at least they were taking some form of action.

And this we'll never be an issue. With all the flying that DL and UA are taking back over the next 18 months, there won't be an issue. If anything, they will have too many pilots and be looking to get ridd of them.
