Hi Everyone! I'm interviewing with Skywest in a couple of weeks and would love to get the ERJ. I live in south east Wisconsin so I'd like a Chicago base. Is the ERJ in Chicago attainable? Thanks, love this website.

If we are at an airport with no SID but the airport does have an ODP are we required to fly the ODP? I have been searching for this in the SOPM/FOM/OP Specs but haven't found anything yet.

Yes you are. Unless you specifically obtain a vmc climb clearance, to which you are then responsible to maintain vfr ad terrain separation.

Part 91.175
(f) Civil airport takeoff minimums. This paragraph applies to persons operating an aircraft under part 121, 125, 129, or 135 of this chapter.
(1) Unless otherwise authorized by the FAA, no pilot may takeoff from a civil airport under IFR unless the weather conditions at time of takeoff are at or above the weather minimums for IFR takeoff prescribed for that airport under part 97 of this chapter.
(2) If takeoff weather minimums are not prescribed under part 97 of this chapter for a particular airport, the following weather minimums apply to takeoffs under IFR:
(i) For aircraft, other than helicopters, having two engines or less—1 statute mile visibility.
(ii) For aircraft having more than two engines— 1⁄2 statute mile visibility.
(iii) For helicopters— 1⁄2 statute mile visibility.
(3) Except as provided in paragraph (f)(4) of this section, no pilot may takeoff under IFR from a civil airport having published obstacle departure procedures (ODPs) under part 97 of this chapter for the takeoff runway to be used, unless the pilot uses such ODPs or an alternative procedure or route assigned by air traffic control.

1. SID/DP
2. Radar Vectors (tower assigned HDG)
3. ODP (if no ODP is published, you're in a very flat area and can turn direct on course).
You'll use an ODP most often at an uncontrolled field but if tower clears you for takeoff without an assigned a HDG or SID, you must still comply with the ODP (if published).
A VFR climb exempts you from the ODP, but you must still comply with the cleared route (ie no cutting corners). If you want to go direct somewhere in a VFR climb, ask for that specifically.
The FOM does not regurgitate all of the FAR/AIM, but those still apply.

Yes. You need one of these:
1. SID/DP
2. Radar Vectors (tower assigned HDG)
3. ODP (if no ODP is published, you're in a very flat area and can turn direct on course).

I'm wrapping up the CTP sim course today in SLC and wondering how to log this time since I need it to get to 1500 hours for the ATP. My instructor had no guidance and says he generally does not sign log books and I've heard others say they don't even put it in their logbooks (hours are kept in SKW records and then added to our logbook total time?). I was going to just log it under my FTD/SIM column only but I thought we had to have an IGI (or authorized dude from certified program) to sign sim time in order to claim it?
Thanks!
Thanks!
