Clearly, that is false. These aircraft were built for Horizon. They are not being deferred, they are being diverted. They will never be operated by Horizon. Horizon will never fix their staffing problem and they will not likely ever see anymore jets. Horizon will probably cease to exist within two years. Perhaps three as they wind down the Q400.

Haven't we been saying Mesa is going away for decades? I'll believe it when I see it.

Yes, I predicted Mesa's demise back when they went bankrupt. They would have, but Airways didn't want any disruption to it's feeder network. SkyWest's pilots said no to a merger, which would have been the only way to effect the demise without major disruptions. SkyWest walked away, so Airways funded their resutection.

The same is not the case with Horizon. Once AAG decides that supporting a WO is a needless and expensive proposition, they will start to wind them down. It is possible that the decision has already been made. The only way they could conceivably staff new jets would be to do a 1 for 1 retirement of the Q400. They need the Q for the short routes, for now. Still, they would be more expensive than us. Why would you do that?

The ERJ was an expensive experiment to see if Horizon could be transformed into a profitable subsidiary. It has been a dissaster so far. They have spent $ millions adding the 175 to the certificate and for their troubles they have alienated thousands of customers and probably lost their coveted J.D. Powers award for the next year to Delta, ending a ten year winning streak

With only two Alaska gates, there is a practical limit to expansion SkyWest can experence at DAL. I always thought a joint DFW/DAL base was possible but that seems more remote until SkyWest picks up ExpressJet's AAL flying at DFW.

The announcement of increased XJT CRJ700 flying for AA killed any DFW base rumor for me for awhile.

Today SkyWest, Inc. announced a second order in less than a month for new aircraft; this one for 20 new Embraer aircraft and additional flying agreements with Delta and Alaska. Of the 20, 15 of them will be 70-seat E175 SC aircraft, operating in our Delta Connection system beginning summer 2018. Five aircraft will be E175s configured in 76 seats under our agreement with Alaska. The Alaska aircraft will be arriving at SkyWest immediately; the Delta aircraft are planned for mid-2018. This will bring our total new E175 aircraft to 149 by the end of 2018.

Following are the specifics:

- 15 70-seat E175 SC aircraft to fly for Delta
We will begin taking delivery of our Delta aircraft June 2018 through September 2018
- Five 76-seat E175 aircraft to fly for Alaska
Arriving by year-end 2017

And a bullet to the head of Horizon.

I wonder if this order will effect The Compass operations out of sea?
