God I could go on for HOURS. How a bunch of pilots, who you can reasonably assume to be well educated and highly intelligent individuals, can listen to OO management argue that "United and Delta have told us they'll pay more for reliability so quit calling in sick!" And then 3 months later listen to the same managers argue "we can't afford to pay you! We need to remain competitive!"

The number of "we are just a regional" "go to a major if you want better pay" "we should take what we can get" comments I heard...
I'm still friends with many of the FAs I used to work with and they all know me as "the guy who wouldn't shut up about the pay package on social media." Then again...our FAs also make 18 an hour and turn down a pay raise for a free coat...

The total time has not went down in years. They may have lowered the fixed wing on the site now but anyone with 250 could have had an interview at any time.

So you're saying MP was fired for standing up for the pilot group? Please inform me and the other 1500 pilots that have asked about details.

Skywest is very reactive and not very proactive with its pilot group. When the hiring team started having issues finding pilots they raised first year pay in response and fired the hiring team so they could hire more without the cumbersome need for qualified pilots getting in the way.

However at the same time increased flying hours, decreased the trip quality, increased TDYs and out of base flying. Many pilots bid realistically on PBS but end up with 75% or more of the month with CN pairings they did not want. Commuters dont get commutable trips because the number of pilots are so low to carry the flying they have to ignore all the bid parameters. So while they react to the slow hiring, they ignore the pilots on property until we are losing 50+ month. I suspect that once the bleed from the middle and top get to 100/month there will be a reaction but it will be too little, too late.

I am leaving for this reason.

Not trying to argue with you, but they called me in December and told me to get 500, then they would give me an interview.

Then I got an email and a phone call last week, saying all I need now is 250. So at least two different people in the recruiting department required, as recently as December, 500 hours.

He doesn't know the real story, but MP was fired for legitimate reasons.

I had to get 500 too. Hurts to see the money that was spent now that they only need 250.....

And if we see an increase in sick calls because everyone is being worked to the max, we will just change our realiability program. Everyone is able to see the company average rising, so let's change how the information is displayed and start sending vague threatening emails to those that cross our invisible threshold. And let's do this without any input from or communication to our pilot representative group (SAPA) It's weird because when Delta wanted to change their sick policy, they had to put it in the TA and have their pilots vote it in. Amazingly enough, it didn't pass because their pilots didn't feel what they were getting in return was worth what they were giving up.

Could have been very legitimate reasons. All I'm saying is there are several others that have done things that are legitimate reasons for getting fired and have kept their jobs. And there are others who have ****ed off CP's by calling in fatigued and get fired after handwriting "experts" link them to crew room graffiti.

Fall in line or pay the consequences. We don't have the ability to hold SGU accountable for their agreements, and when they violate our agreements with them, there are no consequences on their side.

You mean that it is run like any other business that isn't unionized? You are describing private sector businesses. They account for the majority of the businesses in the US. I'm guessing you have never worked outside of the airlines? I'm sorry SGU doesn't have a union, it would be nice, but they don't... Trying to organize one is more work they anyone is going to take on at a regional. So you just suck it up, color between the lines, and get out so you can go to a shop with a union.

No, that's not all you're saying. You only brought him up. There's plenty here that should be fired, but SGU is no longer wanting to fire pilots without cause. And when I say cause, normally multiple incidents. Their court failures of the past has cost them too much money, not to mention the bad press, so they're no longer firing for nothing.

Ask anyone at OO, and they'll say it takes a lot to get fired here. So stop your black helicopter spaz rhetoric. If you're fired here in this environment, it's just. I, like you, wish we had a union, but that won't happen here. Too many followers. But it's not that bad of a job, and if it were, you'd leave.
