I'm a big fan of ditching the "pay ya later"scheme....oh we are bankrupt.
Pilot costs should be relatively stable and a salary does that. I would add though that longevity should reduce your min required hours of flying a month.

I have access and I saw more than a few that said they didn't have a problem with it...

Found out I have a funeral to go to next week and its during the 1st day of my trip. There is a trip in open time that would start the next day but it is a restricted pairing. Is it even possible to get crew support to swap me into it? I don't want to have to call in and skip the first day.

You won't know if you don't call. Try calling some friends and seeing if someone can pick up part of your trip or trade.

I've tried every trade possible lol. Can't find anyone willing to take the first day. Plus I don't want to lose out on credit either. The open time wasn't there until last night I noticed it popped up, but restricted. I've called about one a long time ago and since it didn't have the same footprint I couldn't pick it up.

Keep calling. One of them will swap it. They have "rules" but everyone is willing to break them. Just tell them look I'm not going. End of story. Would you like me to work a different 4 days instead?

Or call in, and pick it back up in day 2 when you're "well" again

Just called again and the guy switched it with zero hesitation. Every now and then you get an awesome CS person. Lesson learned just keep calling back and hopefully u get a different person on the phone

If at first you don't succeed, try once a day till the day of the trip. Someone will do it for you.

There are a few that are really helpful, and then there are a few that you will learn to just hang up the phone when they answer....
