well we know the training center doesnt have the capacity for any recalls in August. So the question is do they bring back people in sept/Oct for the holiday push or try to get by till next yr?
If I was running it I'd run upgrades in sept/Oct and leave the others out till Jan.
Maybe bring 100--200 back late Oct or early Nov for the holidays but that's it.

I was told there would be recalls and... and then upgrades at a feverish pace.

Watterson said yesterday all airplanes would be back on property by October/November. 657 fleet count by summer, the rest back by October/November (30 planes). We want to be Aloha in Hawaii without saying it.
I’ve heard from other sources massive hiring going into 2022 along with a lot of upgrades. (That wasn’t from watterson btw) we also where supposed to be getting glass in the 300’s so I’ll wait until it’s here before confirming.

That glass in the 300 is gonna be sweet! Febreze air cleaners in the lavs too!

Where did you read that Watterson quote about fleet count? Haven't seen it before.

I've heard the 2022 rumor but only from other pilots, nobody official. If they want to have bodies in January they're going to have to spool up the hiring machine by September so I guess we will find out before too long if there's any truth to it!

Watterson said it yesterday in the Oakland pilot meeting. Just happened to be there on an unscheduled plane swap.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the info. Would've liked to have seen that. That guy is sharp as a tack!

Yeah... super informative. He touched on a lot of growth opportunities. If he visits a base I would totally recommend going to a meeting. He’ll sit there and answer all the stupid questions pilots like me love to ask. It does give me a little confidence in what’s going on in the crystal palace. He seemed most exited about Hawaii (kicked Alaska out of Oakland and Sacramento to Hawaii), growth to other airports in the same market (Intercontinental and O’Hare (couldn’t have gotten into O’Hare without covid)) and how they got in to Long Beach via old sound regulations and got Jet Blue out of there. Also answered questions on the A220 (was cheaper per flight but more expensive to run a two type fleet and got a smoking deal from Boeing).

It was a smoking deal because it was a risky move. Risk vs. Reward. Hopefully, no 737 groundings for the next 30 years.
