Common misconception, but no...

4.D.2.a.

"For purposes of this Section only, the original line total is defined as: the value of all flying and non-fly events on the line after the completion of the vacation overlap, month to month overlap and recurrent training adjustments, excluding any MOT, DOT, HOT, POT, SNOT,VPF, and JA carried in from the previous month. That’s a bingo. Beginning of the month is a good open time opportunity due to the chaos caused by overlap. End of the month is a good time due to senior bubbas and bubbettes being over the cap. The JA train rolls hard the first 5-7 days right now, so if you wanna make double time, be on the lookout for JA stuff thrown into giveaway.

This isn't always the case, but, especially if the first falls on a weekend, there tends to be more of a chance to get JA'd during the overlap period due to trips pulled and lack of pilots willing or legal to do them.

Note of interest, the company has "temporarily" increased reserve lines to around 20 percent and also increased blank lines. This means that the hard lines have been packed with flying and, consequently, block time. This has resulted in the pilots on the line starting to get squeezed with legalities and is going to be very detrimental to their ability to recover from disruptions this summer. You heard it here first (or maybe not, SWAPA has been saying it for months).

They just cut a few thousand flights from the summer schedule, which equals about a day and a half of flying out of 60 days. The press is reporting that it is due to "pilot fatigue".

This summer is going to be a complete goat rope. The first major disruption we have is going to show how our operation is running on a very thin edge.

What does JA stand for? Also, while I’m asking, what does ELITT stand for?

Have a CJO and am doing all the research I can!

JA=Mandatory Company Assigned Overtime work over and above your normally awarded schedule

ELiTT=a pool of uncovered trips the Company has, that under most circumstances allows you to trade your normally awarded trips with this Company pool

There's much more depth to these terms and concepts but that'll get you started.

Congratulations on the CJO

JA, junior assignment (if on duty, you are a target, nothing to do with seniority)
HOT, hourly open time (voluntary airport standby)
SNOT, short notice open time (ready and willing!!)
DOT, daily open time (you get the point by now)
POT, premium open time
VPF, voluntary premium flying
ELITT, electronic line improvevment trip trading

might have missed a few, but increasing resrve coverage might not be a bad idea.

HOT has nothing to do with airport standby... its more of a short notice DOT. Ive been awarded HOT trips the night before for a trip the next day...
And ELITT is ENHANCED Line improvement trip trade,...
