That’s facts. This mentality is how we get an industry leading contract. We have to be willing to leave. Too many opportunities out here at Delta, FedEx, United etc to get hung up on SWA. If SWA isn’t willing to make up for the single fleet type by having the best contract in the industry, then time to go.

Proof for me:
Taking ExTo and delaying a much desired Mil Reserve retirement, only to be sent an impending furlough notice 120 days prior (when only 60 is required) right before Christmas!

I haven't calculated to loss in my 401k over that mistake because it will only enrage me.

Never again Gary (we all know you're still pulling the strings).
Never again.

Taking something that isn't in your control that has a great effect on your personal and financial future and advocating for it to go further out of your control is foolhardy.

Remaining silent on the issue is great (I would have been fine with that), but then the same group that Is on here wanking about this decision would be also on here wanking that SWAPA isn't doing anything. Look deep in your hearts. You know it's true. APA is advocating against the extension, which is directly opposite to our best interests. Should SWAPA remain silent in that case?

Anyone who thinks that the Max 7 being put off longer will somehow result in more leverage, think again. It would be at the very worst time for our contract when we are finally at a stage where we will see some progress. We don't hold the keys to the -7, the feds do. In 6 months, we will have overhired ourselves into a bloated and greedy pilot group. Anyone who has been here longer than three years has seen it happen once. How did that feel? Did it result in any sort of leverage for us to accomplish anything? We are hiring NOW for max 7 deliveries.

So yeah, I am not for SWAPA helping the company solve their issues. This isn't just the company's issue, though. It's OUR issue in a big way. If SWAPA remains silent, APA gets to be the pilot union voice on the matter even though they have zero stake in it.

As I have said above, anyone who thinks any pilot union is moving the needle on this issue is deluded. This issue has already been decided by the hundreds of outstanding orders, mainly for the Max 10. Union comms in the issue are mainly just noise at this point.

I firmly believe the company believes they have to drag it out now as long as possible while waiting for the next economic downturn.

Then UAL, AA, and DL mgt are in the same boat I guess….everyone else has come out with new CBA’s with huge gains. Big 4 are the only ones left….(rumor is NK is finishing up and something will drop by spring)

This guy is the voice of reason. Let’s not get too worked up about anything until the call comes from the Union to show up…..

You know how many of our pilots don't know about other airlines contracts/pay/whatever? Its about the same that don't know we get reimbursed for medicals, don't know how the DTC in elitt works even though its been around for a while, and still SET to "save the monies"...

I like to think OUR pricetag is increasing, but I think unless people get educated on what's out there, they don't know. They don't go on forums, or FB pages. Its not like SWAlife is gonna sent them a telegram they can read with the latest stuff. Maybe SWAPA needs to do a 2022 PAY/Contract/Rules update and send it out for the caveman.. cave people... to check out.

Doin multiple legs per day at age 50 plus doesn't sound too exciting.
