Yes, they do. As long as the AT switch is on (which is normally would be until the autopilot is disconnected for landing, even if it's in ARM mode not actively doing anything), the system will push the thrust up automatically if needed.

It was a small piece of ice. One got bought off the CA. The FO got her job back but quit. I can’t blame her either. It was one pilot that took the pics and he mentioned or showed it to an FA whose husband I believe was a CKA. Then the crap started. Neither the pic taker or FA were to concerned enough to alert the crew, but it supposedly upset the FA. That’s how I heard it anyway.

Say they were given a descent to 4k and told to slow to 180 while doing 230-250. They’d spin the airspeed knob to 180 and throw the speed brakes to help with the descent. New FO is told to slow toward up bug before asking for flaps.

If he forgot, the airplane is going to do what you tell it…descend to 4k and slow to 180. Auto throttles won’t do anything until 170-180 and by then you’re 20 kts or so below up bug.

In a light 700 the up bug is a lot lower than 200. We have a training recommendation to be within 10 knots of the limit before adding flaps. So don't add flaps 1 at 249 knots. I'm pretty sure I was at 190 when I added flaps 1 today in a light 700. I didn't note where the bug up speed was but it was likely in the 180s or even lower. I've seen ref/app speeds around 120. I think we were 126 today with the 5 knot addative. I usually am flaps one by 200 but I doubt they were a knot or two below clean manuver speed. I land flaps 15 a lot in the 700 frieghters we run because they are usually in the teens for flaps 30. It doesn't match with our OG 900s that don't even have winglets or the SFP placard and are 5 miles behind me. In full MAX 9 with 10K of gas you see 210 for clean manuver speed. If I flew a 777 I'm guessing I'd be freaking out if I saw the low speeds of a light 700 with 1/2 PAX and 6K of gas going into SAN but I'll never know...

We had 80 pax in a -700 and our Ref was around 124. Was in the mid-140’s on a full -800. On a light -700 you will prob have a up bug around 180-190. I’ve no problem going flaps 1 at 240 if ATC leaves us higher than a kite…just have to keep an eye on the airspeed. On a normal approach I’ll usually start flaps around 210-230 depending on how heavy we are and what ATC wants for sequencing.

That brings me to a second point. We don't know what's true or not. We get stories from parties looking to make themselves look good while the other looks bad. Don't be Juan Browne; know the facts. For now those facts are held by respective union committees and companies.
Here's why your post is full retard. This is a teachable moment for everyone in the industry. All you toddlers that have been hired in the last 5 years that have been raised by full retard parents, University professors, and company culture that says run to HR for anything naughty now know that your decisions have consequences.

and since the instructors at the training center teach new hires NOT to select flaps while decelerating through 230..... there is a higher likelihood of something distracting the pilots as they reach slower speeds.

You mean raised by you. Any parenting faults in new hires are your fault for being a bad parent.

Do you guys land with A/T off??
At AA we always hand fly and land with A/T on unless we turn them off (always an option but not really SOP.)
