Because we all like to pretend we hold ourselves to a higher standard... until we act like a bunch of drama b!tches hanging a fellow pilot out to dry based on tenth hand information, doxing said pilot and turning their life upside down based on social media rage, and without so much as questioning if something like this passes the very basic smell test. So much for higher standard, huh?

Knowing what you know about safety reporting systems in place, CRM concepts, how we train industry-wide, and what transpired i.e. you observed a minor error, brought it to crew's attention, crew immediately trapped the error and thanked you for pointing it out, what would prompt you as an airline pilot to call the FAA in the first place and what would you tell them?

In this scenario, no, I wouldn't notify the FAA as I feel like the problem is resolved in your example. At most, I might notify my union but it would have to be pretty egregious or unsafe to even go that far, something like a knot or two slow on an Fbug certainly wouldn't do it.
An airline pilot who knows how airline safety systems work, the CRM concepts, and how we train wouldn't bother because it literally makes zero sense. A layman Karen would...

So what makes you think a United jumpseater who also knows the safety reporting systems, CRM concepts, etc would do anything different?
I think she told someone what happened. She may have sexed it up a tad, or not. Then given all the Boeing hysteria lately, that someone decided to drop a dime based on her story, and she's catching hell as if she was the one who dropped a dime.

Cutsey time is over. She decided to F around and find out—actions have consequences. Pro standards would have been a better tactical decision. Dont start no **** won’t be no ****.
She can ride in back.

Here's why this isn't a big deal: Let's say you're part of that SWA crew. You learn somebody went full idiot and notified the FAA about something you thought was within the realm of normal day-to-day corrections. You're still covered by SMS protections. File your ASAP. Let the various people go to work and while you sleep easy. A reactionary jumpseater isn't that big of a threat (unless they grab both fire handles and the APU fire switch as well). So this isn't really worth all the hubub, even if it's true.
That brings me to a second point. We don't know what's true or not. We get stories from parties looking to make themselves look good while the other looks bad. Don't be Juan Browne; know the facts. For now those facts are held by respective union committees and companies.

I assume at this point that at least 50 percent of this story is pilot lore spread around the sewing circle like wildfire in places like this. I don't even care what is truth and fiction at this point.
United pilots, I fly heavily to most of your hubs and welcome at least 1 or 2 of you every single trip. You are more than welcome to sit anywhere on my airplane. The many should never pay for the sins of the one. No bribes necessary. I just ask the same in return. I would even welcome the young lady in question, but not before having a long chat behind a closed door with someone else present.

Boomer alert... we have seen the erosion of personal responsibility and a generation that has grown up in artificial safe spaces. She needs to face the music if she indeed made the call, which I'm am inclined to think.
