So a new hire won’t know their base until 1/2 through ground school? Thx

Depends on where your class falls and when it begins vs when the vacancy award closes. Basically you have to have an awarded base by the time they schedule your IOE. Some classes had it midway though, some closer to the end. You bid with the rest of the pilot group in the regular vacancy.

Starting mid-Oct will have them finish mid to late Dec…and then they’ll be in the queue for IOE which shouldn’t take long since we haven’t really hired and CKA aren’t loaded down with training. They could be in the Jan bid or the company could let them do Jan in their closest base with “leftover trips in OT” or they’ll bid a hard line to get them consolidated (close to 100 hrs) before they’re thrown to reserve in whatever base they can hold.

When I started, we didn’t get a bonus month close to home…our hard line was in the base we could hold for that vacancy bid (everyone got OAK).

Ah yeah, also no hard line any more, which is good for every FO barely holding on to a hard line in the new hire landing spot. Forgot about that.

Forgot about that too. Guess it’ll be OT trips if they miss the monthly bid.

im pretty sure for Thor consolidation month they will bid with the group and hold what their seniority allows. Not sure if that was in the new contract but it changed around that time.

I think they mean the IOE month(s). Pretty typical to build a line out of open time trips. Don't forget too that we are doing the whole FO experience thing with longer IOE too, which will divide it into multiple trips over a few weeks.

I guess that’s great for FOs! Better opportunity for that elusive but highly desired trip pull when paired with CKA!
