I have always felt that according to the ALPA 117 guide Q/A 36, I need to be put on rest before they can assign something to me. According to Q/A 37 I can volunteer to pick up.

Q-36. A flightcrew member is on days off. Can the company call him for a flight assignment?
A-36. Yes. If the flightcrew member answers the call, the company can assign him to flight duty. However, the company must give the flightcrew member the required 10- hour rest period and then place him on short-call reserve.

Q-37. Can a flightcrew member who is on days off voluntarily elect to pick up a trip from open time?
A-37. Yes. This is not prohibited by the regulation so long as the flightcrew member is rested, fit for duty, within applicable limits for duty and flight time, and prepared to perform the assigned duties.

If that doesn’t work:” sorry, drinking beer, thought is was for an X list for tomorrow.” (I list for the whole month for both X and Y (currently not for Y) before the first, and have since XY started. Never had anyone tell me I could only list for the days I was actually available.)

No worries mahhhn….spirit ain’t gonna call. They staffed the airline….look at the zero cancels and reserve grids. Lowest paid for the next 9 years. Newest 108xxx numbers out of training volunteering for OT bc they make 56 an hour and are lowest on the X list totem poll. They get the call first. Enjoy!!!! Lowest paid a320 for your life time. Wait till the Australians sign up for the xlist and “steal your overtime”

This was addressed in 2018. If you list for both X and Y you do not know which list they are calling from and since Y list is required to accept you’d better screen the call if you are not prepared to accept any assignment and Mmmm or are not fit to fly. You can be subject to discipline for answering a Y list call and not accepting it.

What is happening now is if you list for day July 1,2,3 but not July 4 and they call you from the Y list on any of those days for a trip that covers some of those days and the 4th you’d be subject to discipline for not accepting even though you were not listed on the Y list for the 4th. This I’m sure will end up in arbitration at some point but for now the answer is to screen the call unless you are ready for anything.

Yes, I know all that. I just would like to know how the company case assign trips without putting us on rest first.

Any chance they increase pay anytime soon? Seeing all the regionals increasing it now, makes me wonder if they will too. Thoughts?

Wouldn’t hold your breath until merger/takeover talk is over and then I still wouldn’t hold your breath

Hey legacy pilots! Spirit is hiring!
Has nothing to do with day trips. The stated purpose for switching to day trips was to make it easier to use reserves when things go wrong. They haven't even had a chance to try it out yet since they aren't needing to call reserves any more than usual.

The real reason we haven't canceled anything is because they cut our scheduled flying in half which added a crap ton of slack into the schedule. If they hadnt done that we would have melted down just as hard as every other year by now, regardless of trip length.

“Half” …you kidding? I have no numbers to quote but half is hard to believe.
Of course exaggeration is to be expected here in the forum, and not an offense.
