Left my LCC in July for Big 6 and I had the full Thanksgiving week and all of December after the 23rd plus New Years off. We cannot drop on holidays, so that was my legit award. It’s not as rare as you think.

I’m a junior NK captain and I’m considering UA. I’m having a hard time finding actual facts since NK guys assume many things about UA and some UA guys I’ve talk to are not painting the full picture. Regardless of what you read on this forums, each personal experience with one company or the other will be biased based on that person’s particular life situation. It’s hard to compare (in a practical manner) if you haven’t worked for both companies and more importantly: how (i.e. commuter vs short drive, etc)

APC is absolutely the last place I’d ask for career advice for something that’ll follow you for the rest of your career. There’s too much bias from a bunch of anonymous sources to ever get a respectable answer. Should I bid wide-body at Airline X flying over domestic….that’s a reasonable question.

I know the op asked about leaving for UA, but what about leaving for one of the other legacy’s if you lived in one of their hubs? I don’t see many NK peeps leaving ( not that they might not be ) for AA/DL. Seems like all the guys I know that have left recently have gone to UA

I don’t know why people can’t make up their mind on this decision and will never understand why people ask the forums. It’s like asking on the forums “Should I get the vaccine?”
If you applied to a Legacy, you kind of have already decided what you want.

I got unstacked both for xmas and new years, I bid 35% in base (been here over 7 years). Our pay is stil way behind. I work 15 days a month to make as much as a 8 year SWA FO makes in 12 days (and I am a captain). If you get hired today in the next 20 years 30% of the people ahead of you will retire, and because we don't have NB/WB all of them are ahead of you. If you go to TOXIC AA, 75% will retire before you, and those 25% will be on the WB, so you can be the number 1 NB-CA instead of bidding 30% 20 years in.
