if anybody could provide examples of what major airline and the monthly premium for a family. Or what areas of insurance we are lagging in... I appreciate it, don’t know have much people I know at other majors.

I know from a buddy that ours are better than delta’s just don’t have the exact breakdown of their options on hand.

I love our HRA Diamond. No complains.

One thing I would like to see discussed in negotiations is to to have the option for company health insurance extended for retirees after so many years of service for a specific amount of time

I would love to see us secure a benefit where I can pay a certain percentage of premiums in retirement, for a specific amount of years. Would be fantastic to have that HRA money used in retirement

Our top priority as far as bennies go is to at least keep the 401k contribution on LTD. I think Delta actually doubles it.

I like the HRA plan but I really like HSAs. I wish our HSA was as cheap (premium, deductible, and out of pocket max) as the HRA and get a similar company contribution from each.
HSA is another good place to stash money away tax free for retirement. Max HSA out every year (along with 401k and IRA) but pay medical expenses out of pocket. Invest the HSA money tax free and save it for retirement.

Although I do like your idea of company insurance in retirement.

100% of pilots will need retirement health insurance

What percentage needs 401k on LTD forever

Now decide what is priority #1 vs #2.

Love both ideas, just like I would like health insurance to be offered for much longer for permanent LTD pilots.

We 100% need our 401K contribution on LTD. You can make lifestyle adjustments for the LTD but you are screwed when you retire. It’s very easy to medical out at any age. Especially now the Feds are starting to defer medicals for certain people that were hospitalized with covid.

Also pilot healthcare rates for the duration not just five years on LTD

Also no offsets for outside income. Makes it impossible to get another job unless you work for cash. Not sure how it applies to a spouse.

The lack 401k and benefit offsets for other income on LTD are major major financial risks. Must haves IMO

Not saying we won’t need medical insurance on retirement but you will have Medicare so it’s far from nothing.

This probably depends on what side of age 50 you are.

Personally I would rather know my health insurance is secure, especially if you medical out and have a condition that makes getting coverage difficult.

I can carve a retirement contribution out of a LTD budget.

because of the next sentence I asked in the post you referenced.

“I feel like ours is good, but I don’t want to settle if there is far better.”
