I think getting someone through OE who’s leaving within a few weeks doesn’t make sense. Especially if OE takes longer, and it seems it does. Not mad at people leaving, and trying to keep their paycheck (if you can call our training pay that), it’s just business.

Never quit until you have to. I wouldn’t until the day of my class. This industry is volatile and you never leave a bird in the hand until you have another bird which is day one in class.

It’s not a lie, it’s true. An FO was let go during IOE by GM for essentially being zoned out during IOE because they were waiting on their legacy class date
Been occasions of FOs not having their workbooks done during IOE because of class dates. One guy was actually brave enough to pull his new legacy onboarding paperwork out in cruise during IOE. Captain check airman called when on the ground, pilot was removed.
So yes, the policy is IF the check airman gets wind that an FO has a class date at a legacy, their IOE will be suspended, as they are trying to get FOs on the line who will actually fly the line.

After asking around there is not such policy. Not saying it didn’t happen but there is no policy even implied.

From our perspective yeah it’s dumb. But if the company needs flights to go out and there’s supposedly a shortage of FOs, then it would be even dumber to cancel or delay a flight simply because your feelings are hurt that someone chose another airline. A simple high five and go about your day would suffice.

I don’t think anyone said anything about delaying flights. There’s a line of people waiting for oe at the moment backed up weeks. The company is simply removing them from the trip and replacing them with another fo. Certainly understandable why the company would want to do that. While imo it’s still wrong to remove someone from oe or stop them from consolidating just because there’s wind they are leaving, they are still employed by spirit and until the day they quit have the same rights as any other pilot here.
