A year 3 FO at AA makes 25% more than a year 3 FO here. What are you talking about? The only close comparison is top pay captain

All pilots are virtually based and earn an additional $1,800 per month in virtual base pay paid monthly after completion of OE, no matter where you choose to live. Training is paid at first year First Officer rate and includes all accommodations.

In your first year, you’ll earn a minimum of $210,000 as Captain or $117,400 as a First Officer.

Upstart Avelo is even willing to pay their new hires 2x as much (including the bonus) as NK. I don’t think Year 1 pay is going to stymie all attrition, but it has to help in attracting candidates and retaining more than we’re losing now. I’ve tried getting a few friends that would be excellent over here apply, and they can’t do the training pay + 90 days without healthcare. Then, as regional captains, they’re looking at a 50%+ pay cut on top of it.

Avelo and Sun Country stepping out may provide cover and or inspiration for the NKS C-suite. They simply may not have the luxury of waiting to see what the legacies, or ULCC’s for that matter, do before instituting some stop gap measures.

The money doesn't mean anything if you don't get to wear 25 stripes on your shoulders!

We need money and more stripes!

Buy a Sharpie pack with that newfound cash and cover it up with a North Face jacket if need be.

Anyone want to start taking bets on when this place closes up shop?

Anyone think theres an actual chance of an aquisition or just sell off cheap planes to the big 3 early and save on having to compete with a ULCC?

so do you really think management is that clueless that they will just close up shop rather than address the supply/demand equilibrium and pay more.
Maybe - but lets hope not
