I like my chances at a mega ULCC over an almost legacy with an identity crisis.
I disagree. JB is the budget to the legacy airlines, like the Lexus to the BMW/Audi/Mercedes. A cheaper version that gives you the same (in some cases better) amenities as the traditional players. Also no airline, after deregulation, can become a "legacy" based solely on the definition of that word.

If B6 has an identity crisis then I guess the customer base don't care..... cuz we still here // Disclaimer: I didn't choose the rap life, the rap life chose me

If true:

1. OTZ just cemented his street cred and-

2. I’d expect B6 to drop NK like a hot potato.

Slots in really expensive airports....lololol. ok. How about those limited slots we have in Newark? This is a win for B6 mostly. They gain 3000 pilots, 190 aircraft kill a competitor and a route network that makes money. This is a loss for junior NK pilots because of the stagnation at B6 and possibly, I said possibly west coast guys for this being a New York airline.

The 220 “regional jet” as you call it is the same size as your 319 and pays more than your 321.

The 220 was already slated to replace the 190 fleet and grow the airline at the same time.

JB is hardly stagnant. We are on pace to hire 900 pilots this year.

The hostilities are flying fast and early I guess.

JB, with respect to organic growth, is very stagnant compared to NK. If JB acquires NK and turns us into the JB model, it will most certainly kill any of the projected future growth those of us at NK have been banking on. All of which is solely predicated on the growing ULCC model. Which NK has figured out how to execute very well.

Nothing personal towards B6 but man. This whole thing is a serious buzz kill for anyone looking forward to seeing new (additional to the fleet) aircraft and growing with the operation.
It’s going to be tough to organically grow while having your pilots be snapped up left and right by Legacy carriers. It is what it is. Same problem at Jetblue, Frontier etc….

Then and only then will it matter to us. The JCBA is all that matters first and which we will all have a say. The seniority list integration comes next and we have little say. An arbitrator will decide. One thing is for certain is there has never been a better time to negotiate an industry leading JCBA. Record attrition and a merger that requires a combined pilot group to achieve the synergies and growth at least two management groups have pitched to their shareholders.
Given the option between a former regional would couldn't even match NK's sub-par contract and a group who on their first contract set the bar for everyone but the Big IV I think it's pretty clear; I'd rather be pulled up by B6 than drug down by F9.

If the B6 guys are as sick at the thought of adding NK as a lot of us were at the thought of being acquired by F9 then you have my sympathy. This industry can be a cruel mistress.

This is a rare win/win situation for F9. I’m hoping that NK takes the offer from B6. No SLI to deal with, we get to grow organically and rapidly which will help with pilot hiring and retention and our growth plans. And our only serious competitor is killed off leaving F9 to be where NK is now in 3-5 years. F9 will be the dominate ULCC in the US and once the post-pandemic wrinkles are ironed out there will be a huge gain in market share. NK’s displaced passengers will be looking for the lowest price and choose F9 over B6.

Pax choose looking for the lowest price I agree. I don’t think it’s is that easy of a win win for frontier. I agree they’re left with the only ULCC model but with JetBlue spirit joined the network that offers pax will be more desirable than the few bucks they save on frontier. IMO

I hope the JB deal goes through.

A lot of us have been brainwashed by ULCC.

Not everyone wants to eat McDonalds. Cost isn't everything despite what we've been told.

Disclaimer I am far from a juicer. With that said, dude you really gotta check your stuff before you speak nonsense, you can say you rather not merge and anyone can respect that. JetBlue with whatever identity issue they have as you say makes enough money to pay for the airline you work for…. CASH.
The “regional airliner” that’s replacing the one we have is bigger than the 319 you have and pays more than all the planes you have.

The slots in London isn’t the same as one in Newark. That commitment or initial expansion to Europe makes you a whole different airline. Lastly what stagnation are you talking about? From what I’ve been told the upgrade at spirit has been trending the wrong way, Jetblue upgrade isn’t too crazy far off. Stagnation in seat will go away due to the new airline becoming one. You don’t think you would have had stagnation with the attrition issue there seems to be in spirit?

I think most will like the JetBlue way truly. Spirit has been killing it that’s true but so has JetBlue. The times I’m in the back I enjoy having a nicer seat, being in mint (you guys will really like that product) and some extra stuff that pax like. Also nice to get some compliments of how people like the airline (not that that pays the bills).
