JetBlue pilot here - our management has made clear to us Spirit’s brand would be eliminated and all aircraft retrofitted to JetBlue standard. Now, how long that would take? Haha who knows. Delta did an incredible job of rapidly converting Northwest’s fleet, but that’s Delta.

They’d probably just put all 5 mod lines in SAL back to work. 1 per month per line. 60/year. Probably park/sell the 319s. So 2.5-3 years assuming they could get the new deliveries swapped over by Airbus and B6 before too many new builds came off the line with the high density layout. It’s about 18 months lead time for interior changes apparently. Or maybe they could do a partial mod and de-densify and add B6 WiFi or some middle ground before the full interior refresh.

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that they thought about the logistics and cost of converting Spirit’s current fleet and orders over to B6 specs before they laid three and a half B notes on the table.
I could be wrong.

Retirement good, 16%. VBA/retirement medical fund is new, unclear of it's value at this point. Kicked off healthcare when you retire. Accrue up 510 hours sick bank for cash out.
Aside from the 16% DC, is there additional matching on top? If so, how much?

No matching required, No additional on top of the 16 percent. You can contribute your own up to IRS limits. You still continue to get the 16 if you go over the retirement limits...will either be in cash or VEBA (retirement medical fund) depending on how you structure your own personal contributions throughout the year.

Baldanza had 11 years running NK before coming to the Jet Blue board, is a professor of economics and teaches a graduate course in airline management. I think it’s safe to say that the thought probably occurred to him.

Fun fact... Bill Franke ousted Ben Baldanza when Indigo owned Spirit. How funny that Baldanza and JB outbid Bill Franke 2 months after F9/NK agreed to a merger.. i think they waited a couple of months on purpose just as a F U!

This thread reads like a bunch of kids that have been in the airlines for five minutes. Nothing to even speculate on until a deal is done or not. And we get zero say who it is. Just go along for the ride.
Then and only then will it matter to us. The JCBA is all that matters first and which we will all have a say. The seniority list integration comes next and we have little say. An arbitrator will decide. One thing is for certain is there has never been a better time to negotiate an industry leading JCBA. Record attrition and a merger that requires a combined pilot group to achieve the synergies and growth at least two management groups have pitched to their shareholders.

I hope this merger goes through for no other reason than to watch the FAs from both groups trash talk each other. It would be epic!
