much smaller than F9. My Guess we will turn down the offer and go worth the original F9 for a multitude of reasons. And I think that’ll be the right move. That’s my prediction. Guess we shall see
If the roles were reversed and JetBlue was making the offer to buy Frontier, I would be concerned as well. The SLI with JetBlue would be ugly with Frontier (same as Spirit). And I think you’re rightly concerned about stagnation. Even with the Frontier and Spirit combo, there was going to be a momentary slow-down as they parked some 319s as they took delivery of new planes. I fear it’ll be far worse with JetBlue, there’s a lot of birds they won’t want to repaint and reconfigure for their product. I think the much larger combined JetBlue + FormerULCC airline will only be hiring for attrition for some time. If I were in the bottom 1/3 of Spirit’s list looking at losing relative seniority in an SLI then stagnation for a long time I would probably be moving along quickly.

As for culture, again not something I think B6 is worried about, as in reality at least from the pilots side of things, it almost always comes down to the contract.
JetBlue pilot here - our management has made clear to us Spirit’s brand would be eliminated and all aircraft retrofitted to JetBlue standard. Now, how long that would take? Haha who knows. Delta did an incredible job of rapidly converting Northwest’s fleet, but that’s Delta.

Yeeeeeeah, about that. Freshly typed guy here and headed to LAS. I have two concerns, but first, here’s my situation: 54, TOP priority is flexibility of schedule (I’m an airshow guy like Baker, Shetterly, etc. and they talked me into coming here exactly because they don’t have to worry about scheduling shows). I turned down a United interview because of this differentiator (I can still contact them and get an interview scheduled).

So, with that said and the talk about the lack of ability to drop currently and seemingly ever increasing upgrade times, it seems like the things I came here for are nice longer the reality short term and stand to be lost long term. So I’ll open this APC can o’worms and ask, am I looking at this right? Is riding this out despite a few bumpy years ahead gonna eventually give me what I want, or should I just punt and put my type to work elsewhere?

PS - it pains me to say it because I was planning to retire here and would hate to jump ship without giving Spirit something on their investment, but….

We have decant section 12 rules and pretty good extended pairing pay (rescheduled more than 2 hours outside your pairing footprint you are paid 5 hours at 200%). We used to have good dropping capabilities until our reserve grid was over complicated. We can drop to 0 via trade board though. IMO between the two I think we would have a pretty good JCBA.

Same here. I was heavily recruited leading into this decision. I still remember decision day at the table with my parents and the media.

As someone in Florida, what happens with MCO seems a lot more appealing with F9 than B6. MCO is very senior for B6, and I believe a relatively smaller part of their operation; if they just absorb NK there's no reason to think MCO won't shrink and suddenly become much more senior. Am I missing anything with that?

Southwest wasn't a viable offer. The judge would not allow any contingency attached to any offer. Southwest had one, Republic didn't...hence why they "won"

understood but that was unknown the day swa got involved. The point is pilots went one day to thinking it’s rep the next swa and shortly after back to rep. That was with very little hiring at the time and if you were paying attention to rep scope (most weren’t, especially captains) you would have seen an ugly sli coming our way.

Why would jetblue buy spirit just to park the planes?
